Since attacks now seem to concentrate on the field rather than the town, why not increase the lethality of the base ack? While we're at it, make all manned guns operate on AI until manned. Not much fun getting steamrolled and capped all the time. Ganging airfields can't be what HTC had in mind with the easing of the town capture settings. Even if the horde wants a fight (and they don't) and not a capture, all that field ack shouldn't be so easily dispatched. There is plenty of room to fight away from the field, but then you would have to allow the defenders a chance to fight back.

One thing to remember about lethality is that unless it is a hoard, it does work about right. I've flown an A8 to pork ords at a small base often..... Sometimes I can accomplish my mission, as well as take a few guns down....... Other times, I am towered before I squeeze the trigger. I find it goes both ways.

caldera funny you mentioned that today. I vulched 2 guys in the middle of the field with full ack up, not one ping. i was in a pony going no more than 350. I have seen guys furball in the ack and come out without a scratch. ack should be a little more accurate. same for the towns. a single plane should not be able to deack an entire field, but it is usually done.

Speed is life and change in heading and altitude also helps.

I think its workin ok sometimes you make sometimes they dont just a matter of luck the way I see it.

In RL, airbase flak was pretty deadly. At the very least it was universally respected by fighter pilots. But I think it would be difficult to come up with accurate numbers for the AH program based on RL stories.

Try flying through base ack in a 109 or 190d and come out the otherside without a radiator hit. Good luck!

I'm tired of having 4 guys hide in the ack when I'm alone. I understand if it's 1 guy who hides from 4, what what's going on now it just ridicules. Ack should stay as it is or get decreased.

Well in reality base ack does not fire when friendlies are there, so +1 for no ack.

Is is obtuseness for the sake of it, or must I really be as specific as to say that I meant when the ack is firing at enemies?
IRL, ack was indiscriminate.
Since this id NOT real life, how about a 10-15% chance of friendlies getting damaged by it? Even 5-10% would be interesting while compensating by making it another 5-10% more lethal to enemy aircraft.
I bet there would be a lot less ack dragging.

The ack is already ridicules, it is way to accurate cv puffy is even worse, I say no it's already very deadly

Let the tards run to ack as the tards cherrying the field are actually just as tardish as the ack runners!

-1 What about the "tards" who dive 15K to that stuff at the first sign the opposition could possibly win?
And dude..."cherrying fields"...there is apparently no such thing as taking off from a non-vulched base and interdicting. You are either the cherrier or the desperate defender these days...sometimes I attempt such an interdiction but it gets awful lonely.

Ack will never get more lethal. But if it were increased I wouldn't mind. It would forcer players to cooperate a bit more when they made their passes on the town and field.

I'm gonna start interdicktion missions and see how many folks will join, my guess is very few. Most will stay in the tower waiting for a cherry-fest to develop if not already involved in one ;) or they are getting beat down somewhere by the cherry horde ;)
There is no longer a "middle ground" in AH :(
