Love how they want ~5,000$ for the highest RAM they offer, and according to Google searching that's ~2,000$ more than it should be (think that was the worst I saw).  What fool (doubt it takes more than 1) is keeping them in business! :O

Newegg has that RAM at $500 for 2 8GB sticks.  2 x 8 = 16.  8 x $500 = $4000.  They really aren't marking up *that* much (still more expensive than doing it yourself, but you have to pay for labor somehow).

Remember:  This is a Server motherboard, with server processors and server RAM.  The RAM is ECC and Registered, that makes the ram very expensive.

Yep and if you start breaking it down from the server side they are still gouging you for about $1k more than the costs of the materials...yes they need to make money and this isn't how they are doing it. Having worked for a computer builder they are banking on someone calling them and wanting several dozen low end workstations and one massive horse power unit to push them all so they can pull in some money.

Every builder has a different market, I suppose.  I don't know a company that would be buying a server with liquid cooling and that graphics card.

When I Googled the RAM they mentioned I got an average of ~$200 for a single 8GB Stick.  That's why I got the ~$2000 over range (16 sticks would be $3200).  I can understand needing to get a profit, but the amount over per part they charge seems a bit...ridiculous.  I don't know for sure, but don't companies ordering bulk like that get a discount?  Just seems a bit overpriced even if it is a Server (with 5.1 speakers to boot!). :)

Neither do I and that is why companies that do this type of thing are typically gone in a little while; even IF they have been around for a while.
