"And in other news, Batman has decided to enlist in the USN.  Unfortunately, his commission will be delayed due to a large number of parking citations that have to be cleared up before he can get his security clearance."  :aok

Didn't they say the same thing about aircraft as a whole back in WWII?

Old news

Saw an early model of it on display at Edwards AFB two summers ago (looked like a 1:1 scale wind tunnel model, in the pic you can see the landing hook protruding, and you can see the refueling nozzle is a mock-up (fake) and I guessed they were still working on finalizing a place to locate it permanentley.)

... it is relatively old news... you and the misses should get out more, Oak.  :D

That thing is to land on a carrier?

That's the Navy's idea.

Personally it trips me out that the thing is tailless.

First thought that crossed my mind when I saw it sitting in the hangar at Edwards, "the Cylons meet the B2".   :rock  :rofl

That refueling nozzle alone has as big radar signature as the rest of the plane...  :lol

Yeah, it was distractingly ugly and rediculous IMO.  I personaly thought they could of made a more atractive and practical looking one out of a couple pencils, a used condom, and a couple rolls of duct tape, even just as a temp for an early-model display piece.

I do not know what they said at that time.  However, looking at this air craft in flight and dose make you wonder how they can land a goofy looking plane on a carrier.
