who managed to kill my 262 :lol
All those HOs, then follow me like a puppy through 2 sectors after you managed to get my oil.
Especially salute LaSalle, who finally kamikaze vulched me on the runway. He couldnt survive that crush into me...
I LUV ya guys. Keep coming :aok
I dont know why im muted... Maybe i really appreciate your skills :lol

oh the irony :devil.

Posts like this make me want to fly a 109-F4 for a month just to use the perks when 262's show up at the fight.
-
dont know why im muted... Maybe i really appreciate your skills :lol
If you didn't get a popup from a moderator with a warning, and then another for a mute you have most likely been mass reported by griefing tools. Send an email to HTC and they can look into it and take care of it if you were unfairly targeted.
-
Ty but i really did everything to get muted ;)
-
Once you up a 262 you forfeit your rite to complain.
If you die in a 262 and complain about it, anything you post afterwards will be considered a whine........FOREVER........ :devil

If your so inept that you cant lose a piston powered aircraft trailing you after two sectors you deserve to die.
Oil hit or not!

strip busten out some know-it-all smack for the masses to consume :rock

Look, i wont ho (or wont kamikaze ramm on the runway) a 262 couse "i know ill die, but at least he loses all those perks muhaha" is just... err i dont wanna be muted again. So i ask You sirs, dont ho. Not speaking about a 262, that was my bad i lost its oil and couldnt run to a further field. I ask You all, gentlemen, plz dont ho. Not with me, generally. Almost every time i try to break off from a head on situation, my opponent is trying to ramm me. I dont think this behaviour is good for the gameplay.
Btw, TY strip, he was way outta range, but he was till following me. I could almost stop on the runway... But its ok, keep coming, keep ramming on runway, it really moves this game forward. Dont you think? And i think i have the rights to complain, couse i NEVER do theese actions. lol Maybe its my bad im not a twit, but still.
-
If you buzz around in a 262 and slaughter planes do you really expect everybody to submit to fly in a leash behind you? Flying a slower plane with decent guns a HO will likely pose the only chance I'll get to put a stop on that so be sure I'll HO you. And it actually has nothing to do with the quality of the gameplay, it only has to do with your bad choice of tactics if you give a slower plane that opportunity.

LOL i tried to avoid those hos all the time, but they managed a few pings... ok i see i have no business here. My bad choice of tactics, i know, ill HO back next time... its sad.

I think you do have that right, as we all have. But the trolls have rights too. Don't let them bother you. And you're not a twit.
I'm a lover of the Swallow too, and I do find it easy to lose my temper with dweebs, but at the end of the day.... It's just another day.

You're in the fastest, most lethal plane in the game which other players know cost you a bunch of perk points to fly. They're not going to be able to reverse you when you come at them with a ton of speed, so their only real option is to turn into you and shoot you in the face. That was my standard tactic against 262s - turn into them HO and let 'em have it. I don't see the point in crying about it since they utilized smart tactics to neutralize your advantages.
-
lol ok ok i know im a bashtard LOL come ho me, ramm me on runway, pick me, gang me, whatever, but RUN when were in 1v1 but CRY when i once ho back, call me a dweeb for flying a 109 g-6 i got enough
this thread sukks plz lock it

Much to learn of this 262 you have young padawan. :old:
-
lol Grizz, idk who had the most 262 kills last month... but true my bad habit im not a coward and i TnB in them when im in 1v1 against 190s... just ask Latrobe ;)
ok, once more... if anyone couldnt get it. I was in a 262 alone against a cloud. They tried to ho me all the time, i avoided those attempts, but 2 lucky pings got my oils. Then i decided to rtb. Some of them were following me home. I chased them down, they were far outta icon range. I "thought" im in safe then tryed to land. There were several friendlies around. I touched the ground and started braking, when LaSalle rammed me. He crushed into me, and he died too. But there is no problem with it. Its all good...
-
I know, I know, pick me!!!!!!!!!!!
lol Grizz, idk who had the most 262 kills last month...
And an impressive amount at that sir! :salute
-
I'm with Charge. I will avoid the HO in almost every situation. I will unload on 262s any chance I get, though. HO or not. It's really tje only option you have to take a 262 out of the fight, unless you come in higher and get a good bounce on him.
Do you not fly 262s much Debrody? If you're new to them...just a bit of advice...expect to be HO'd, vultched, ganged...all the works!! Can you really blame someone for it?
Thankfully perks can be made back easily. Of course...your squad knows that :devil
-
lol B4Buster, idk who had the most 262 kills last month...
:D
Do you not fly 262s much Debrody?

Are you saying he's a slow learner then, LLogan? :D
-
I AM a slow learner, never figure out why the ... is it needed to ramm on the runway
-
So they can squeak to their squaddies saying they "killed a 262!"
-
Not as slow as me........ :uhoh My TF gets so bad when I'm in a jet, I do all my ramming at 20k. And then sit in the tower cursing my head off for a few minutes.
Are you saying he's a slow learner then, LLogan? :D

Sounds fine to me.
lol ok
-
I AM a slow learner, never figure out why the ... is it needed to ramm on the runway
There's obviously no need... But there was obviously a desire... And really, that's enough. It's a game after all.
If you're zipping around in a jet picking off the guys who are really interested in a different type of fight, you're minimizing their fun. To return the favor, they need to drop what they're doing and take your jet away.
Fighting against a 262, the HO is a pretty dang effective tactic. It's probably the single-best option for any pilot in a "conventional" plane to land some effective hits, and is actually probably the safest way for them to fight (assuming they don't plan to fly through you). Hit or miss, it's going to make the 262 driver a little less likely to tangle with you.
I'm guessing the ram on the runway had more to do with pissing you off than with anything else. If you were ranting on chnl 200, I'd practically guarantee it.
Strategically, it's even effective... Anything they can do to take your perks away makes it less likely that you'll lift another 262 and return to the fight with it.
The goal is really multi-fold. Take away your perks, and make it less fun for you to fly the uber-plane. Based on your thread, they may be accomplishing just that.
Alone against a crowd or not, you're nearly untouchable in that thing if you fly it with any skill at all. I'd expect an HO from any enemy plane that can accomplish it. For that matter, I'd expect that while you're in any other plane too. You won't always be HO'ed, of course, but you'll go much further if you begin to expect it and prepare for it.
-
ok, i got it gunna prepare to theese actions from the players, so its normal. One thing, everyone is whining about get hoed, picked, rammed, etc, but everyone is doing it. If something is not good for me, i wont do the same with the other players couse i know they wont like it. It works in eastern-europe... and yes, thats that simple.
-
Its funny. He says dont ho me but he has come ho me in his sig. Whats up ??
-
Have to admit I don't get all the hand wringing over a death in a cartoon plane game.
IMHO, if getting "beat" in this game (or more often, "dying" unfairly and knowing the "killer" thinks he beat you) matters enough that a player is upset for more than a minute - well, something is wrong.
I'd submit that if someone's identity is tied up in game skill, well, some introspection may be in order.
-
One thing, everyone is whining about get hoed, picked, rammed, etc, but everyone is doing it.
Nope, not everyone is whining about those things.
The only people that whine about those things are the ones who haven't figured out how to avoid having those things done to them. Those tactics aren't all that difficult to beat, or to potentially even capitalize on.
SA and good ACM defeats the first two.
The third one is seldom the fault of the guy who hit you (do some research on this- I'd go so far as to say that if you get rammed, 99% of the time you should have simply gotten out of the way; for your opponent to ram you effectively, on purpose, he has to MISS you on his screen).
Taking the path you've voiced (fighting the HO, pick, and ram by returning the favor) is going to lead to a lot of frustration for you. Far better (IMO) to just improve your own skills, and begin slaughtering the guys who'd like to use those tactics against you. Asking for folks to change their ways to suit your desires is a long, frustrating, selfish, and ineffective means to make the game better for yourself.
I'd also like to point out that HOing, picking, and ramming are valid, important, and even desirable tactics to have available and present in the game. They keep things interesting, and keep the game far more "honest" than it would be without them.
-
This as been an 'interesting' thread,gentlemen...lol.

Gotta disagree with your assumptions.
First, as ACM aware AH pilots go, I suck. I do not have "the gift" some people have for targeting, maneuvering, and just in general killing the bad guys. Odds are, I never will have the skills that some seem to have by nature.
Even so, when people try to HO me, I make them miss...unless I choose to let the HO happen. And, if they continue to fight, the path they have to take to HO me is so easily countered that I will be on their 6 in short order. (On the other hand, I will likely then miss several kill shots and end up dying to one of their vengeful brethren while I continue to be saddled up on my target...)
Debrody, I know you are aware of one of your fellow pilots who went to the DA expecting to school me (because their KPD was astronomically better than mine, I guess.) You are also aware that I beat him every single time I fought him over the next couple hours of dueling (excepting the times I stalled out and augered while maneuvering to the finish -- see the first paragraph!!) He was not able to get to my 6, and never knocked a part off me in his snap shooting.
The point is this - instead of getting angry, you would find it far more rewarding to learn how a loser like me knows how to do that kind of flying. 'Cause it isn't all that hard.

You have to assume they are chasing you. They know that you have to land at the base you are going to. Throw your rudder and stick stir like crazy on final approach. Throw the gear down to create drag, get the flaps out, full rudder the entire time. Just as you are about to touch down, throw the gear up and belly land it to a stop. They shouldn't be able to get to you in time. :old:
-
I think the point of the story is that it was a pretty lame thing to do, chase a guy for 2 sectors then try to vulch him before he could stop.
Unfortunately it is the way the game is going, where getting a kill is far more important than fighting and EARNING the kill. Far too many players count on these kinds of kills.
-
<S> Silmaril,
youre talking about Denniss? ;) Well, he needs to spend some time with ACMs (apologize, Den)
I got your point, sir. I started this topic with some irony, wasnt even angry, but some trollers pissed me off a bit. I still think HOing is generally a lame move, just like ramming on the runway. I would never do those moves, thats why they hurt me.
I apologize. Plz lock or delete this topic.
Edit: thanks, Grizz, thats what i was doing. Ill land on my belly next time to be even quicker.
-
I'm not going to give out the name of the person, both because I said I wouldn't at the time - and more importantly, because the point then (with that pilot) and now (in general) is that AH is a GAME, and should be played for its own enjoyment.
It's a contest for fun, not for ego validation. And the more we encourage chest thumping, the more we try to put posers in what we see as their place, the worse the game environment is going to be.
<OK, I have enough self awareness to realize that my post about the DA sounds like a direct contradiction of the last couple sentences. I'll attempt to atone for my post by saying that at the time I agreed to go to the DA, I repeatedly said "Sure, we can go for fun - just so we agree that this isn't about ego or proving anything." And this time, my post was intended to focus more on the way it's relatively easy to avoid the HO.
But overall, I have to say - "My Bad", and "you now have complete justification to laugh in my face!" :lol
-
why the (samhellfire) is it needed to ramm on the runway
To kill the cartoon opponent at all costs. A cartoon suicide can be worth the price just for the satisfaction of denying the foe a landing, especially a 262. Plus, there may be some grudge kill fever in there as well.....
-
at all costs
lol sure... just like the Wabbits in the koth :lol

pFFFFFFFT <--- Uber interjection to emphasize my disdain.
This has absolutely nothing to do with a fight and even less to do with the way the "game is going". Chasing wounded jets back to base and vulching them has been the way it has been ever since I've been around (since tour 50) and I'm sure it has been that way since they were introduced. If I double smoked an evil jet that was buzzing around picking guys, you're damned right I'm going to follow him back to base and vulch him. It has nothing to do with wanting a cheap kill, it has to do with revenge, justice, and more importantly, taking his perk points as retribution for his sins! I cannot blame anyone that chases my jet back to base, I'd do the same thing.
-

Thank you for saving me all of that typing :aok
I will add to this wisdom by saying that this works for any plane. Sideslip, skid, flaps, throw gear (who cares if they break), opposite stick and rudder (see skid/slip). anything to bleed speed and slide into home plate.
You really have it down pat when you can do it into a hanger :x
-
Sure it's been going on since they were introduced, but that doesn't make it right.
Vengeance in a game really? I'm here for the fights. If the jet/pony/190/tempest dives out and runs away I'm not going to chase him. He gave up, I won that fight, time to look for the next one.
Of course I'm the guy that doesn't HO unless HOed upon, rarely vulches and so on. If there is not fight, why bother?
-

Didn't HiTech say that another objective of the game was to piss-off the other guy? :devil

As far as HO's, there really is no other shot available on a jet, unless you are in a jet. I would suggest that you assume you are being hunted at all times no matter what you are piloting. Fly accordingly. :aok

Oh come on Fugi turn your blithering fingers off! You posted this like two weeks ago:
What's wrong with generalizing, if I listed specifics it would be a friggin book!
I don't see what so wrong here. I come into a COMBAT game expecting to have COMBAT. Instead I chase a con for 5 miles and say screw this turn around only to see the con come back. As I turn to re-engage him does he continue to come in? Nope he turns and or dives away....no COMBAT there.
-
Grizz, thats not the same. I agree with Fugi, i find it annoying and low when a spit16s following me and when i attempt to overshoot, he runs away. Thats cowardly. But of course i wont follow a diving tempest like a puppy in my g-6 couse i know i wont catch him.
-

Ya and 5 miles at 400 mph is what 50 seconds??? :huh Ya I chase them allllllll over the stinking sky!

You are drawing the wrong conclusion. The right conclusion isn't that everyone is a hypocrite and HOing, picking, and ramming are generally acceptable. The right conclusion that folks here have been trying to lead you to is that different rules apply when you're in a 262.
-

You over generalize and over embellish in every single post you make in regards to "the state of the game", "the size of the horde", "the mentality of the xbawkers", and "the lack of fight", in the game, that it's difficult to take you seriously most of the time. I shall call that "Clash of the Over Generalizations". :D
And here we sit bickering about "the state of play" in a toon game and then someone drops the "Grow Up" card. Oh the irony wouldn't you say? :lol
-
:old: me and 262's in the MA = someones getting my perks :rofl :rofl then you put me and waystin together in 262's its a comical disaster about to unfold :rofl :rofl so you see me blazing in a 262 get ready for my perks hahaha I don't care if i Die, its such a comical relief for me from the usual prop driven planes, Now put me in a 163 and I'm like Slim Pickens dropping outta the Sky... yeeeehawwwww :rofl :rofl :rofl Games about Fun and the last two months Ive been having a Blast with my squad
-
HOing, picking, and ramming are generally acceptable.
tipical v-errrr devil :devil
-
Fugi, I'm going to disagree. You are out buzzing around in a 262 I've got no sympathy is someone shoots you in the face and chases you all the way home and blasts you on the runway. Same would go for a Tempest, 163, F4U-4 or 1C. You go wandering in a Perk bird the gloves come off.
You want a fair fight, then don't come to the fight in a ride that makes it unfair :)
-
Guppy,
i normally fly the 109 g-6 in the main arenas. What about all the spit16s? Nikkis? La7s? All those planes can do EVERYTHING better than my g-6. So talking about being unfair...

I fly the 38G. Any of the birds you mentioned I have more then a chance against. My choice to fly a less then uber bird. You love the G6. Good for you. I'm guessing, like me, there is some sort of history connection for you when flying the G6. Be the best damn G6 pilot out there. If I see a 262 there isn't a thing I can do except hope he makes a mistake. The 262 guys have all the cards and then some.
I see a Spit 16, LA7 or NiK I get fired up for the fight.
As soon as I start thinking about putting my 38G in the hanger for a 'better' bird, I figure I've lost the fight already.

I would actually go so far as to say WAIT for the mistake. This happens more often than one thinks, as most guys do not have nearly the same amount of stick time in a Schwalbe as they do in other birds.

Always fun seeing you in the skies Debrody.
I followed a jet 2 sectors after I got his oil so I'm not commenting on that. :D I didn't vulch him, he crashed on landing. Beautiful! Saved me some ack damage.

<-----Killed a 262 in a F4F-4 Friday, (practising for the FSO coming up that evening), and yes I HO'd him. He came to an area showing a good sized dar bar alone and then attacked a couple of my squaddies. For that he must die. That was the most lopsided eny kill I have had so far and I thouroughly enjoyed it. Pretty sure I didn't get a salute afterward, didn't expect it either.
I was in a 262 attacking a set of Buffs just recently. I took out his 2 AI when he really started to turn and burn that big fat B17. I was lining up fo a 1:00 shot when he pulls really hard right to me. Missed my shot trying to avoid him. Set up the same shot again and jeebeezus he does it again. I throw him a salute private and tell him he is scaring the crap outta me and are you really trying to ram me? He comes back and says "Sorry, yes I am, the 262 is just a game killer for me.....". So, that's pretty simple for me, I break off because I am not here to ruin the game for anyone, throw him another salute and tell him I am off, happy landings. 1 minute later I get the kill message that says his last B17 has gone down. I ask him what happend and he says, "Obviously you are a gentelman and a good sport so I crashed to give you the kill because you earned it".
What's the point? The 262 is a game changer for alot of folks. They see it as disruptive to good fights when maybe it is sometimes. That's why I think so many are into the "kill it at all costs" mentality. 2nd point, It is amazing what happens if you show just a bit of sportsmanship and civility while flying and I believe that makes the game more fun.
BTW the "gentelman" in the B17 was Midway, a guy I see thrashed quite a bit now on 200 for alot of stuff, but I know better. :salute

He said he followed a jet, who eventually crashed on landing... What makes you think he's lying?
He never stated that he was involved in any way with your ordeal.

Nowotny was shot down and killed on 8 November 1944. I believe he was shot down be Lt. R. W. Stevens, 364 FG in a P-51. He was landing and one of his engines was out when he got jumped. The situation is remarkably similiar to what you described. Lt. Stevens indicated he caught up with a slow Me-262 that was about to land, shot at it and damaged it and pulled off when he believed he was about to enter the "Flak Alley". Subsequently, Nowotny's Me-262 rolled and he crashed. (This more or less happened within sight of Adolf Galland who was visiting Kommando Nowotny that day.)
Quoted from F-16.net
Sounds strangely familiar ....... ahh but this is not real, just a game so don't behave like it's real, you might make it more authentic to war-like reality :lol

I feel your pain but everyone knows 262's are fair game, any way,, any how.

Sounds strangely familiar ....... ahh but this is not real, just a game so don't behave like it's real, you might make it more authentic to war-like reality :lol
HL
Better known as "Rat Catching" It's why they had the red and white striped D9s around to protect the 262s trying to land.

Oh Ghost Thread and my bad on not checking this sooner, but I was running a search under my game name looking for some stuff on FSO and stumbled across this gem.
Let's clear this up, I didn't vulch you on the runway or was anywhere near your landing. When you tried the typical 262 pick, I jinked and whacked your engine in my Brewster as you passed. Then you ran away to god knows where like most 262 drivers do when they are outclassed. About 5 minutes later after fighting on I got a kill message, so whatever I thought.
Then right after you have the audacity to pop up on my vox, cursing at me and carrying on like child with a temper tantrum. So I muted you.
I didn't even think anything else about it, until I read this thread.
Feel pretty stupid now huh?

You know, for over six weeks now this issue has really been burning in my mind. Some nights I have trouble falling asleep, worrying that Debrody's nemesis never got his fair say.
Thanks for clearing this up, now I can relax.

The 262 is almost invincible with good SA. It dictates the terms of every pick -err bounce -err fight. Aside from diving in a from well above the 262, Ho-ing is the only "fight" most can put up. Given the chance, I would kamikaze a set of B-29s to get a 262 on the runway. :devil

2nd point, It is amazing what happens if you show just a bit of sportsmanship and civility while flying and I believe that makes the game more fun.

Thanks for sharing that story HL. :aok

I guess that in the end some people like to play this game by a set of chivalric rules particularly when they apply to others and not themselves (hence it is fine to pick or jump another player, but the not okay to get personally vulched on runway). Others like to play as though it is a shhhhhhhh, wait for it....can it be......a war game. Personally I don't know where anyone gets the second idea. After all we fly around in WWII planes of our favorite country and generally bomb, shoot and destroy everything we come across, but oh, well. Apparently some people view this game as a noble exercise where two great white steeds contest in epic encounters where the rules of the marques de queensbury are rigidly followed.
Personally, I fight (badly), die (often) and expect no quarter to be given and will give none in return. I don't like to die (in fact I secretly want to be uber) but I accept it as part of my learning curve. If I get picked I should have better SA, if I get out turned I need to learn how not to be, if I get out scissored I need to learn how to win the scissors fight, on and on and on and on. I can accept most things in this game, but I get really tired of listening to the constant whining about how so and so got killed unfairly. Maybe it is just me, but I see no such thing as fair or not fair in this game. I try not to HO, but I have and will again, I hate being vulched, but I will not give you the field, I hate to lose, but I lose often. Above all however, I try to fight fairly and well and respect the other players, but where I lose respect is when they whine about how other people play this game.
Sorry about the rant! See you all tonight - you will probably be killing me, but if you do, I will not whine about it even if I get mad about dying (again).

You got beat period. I mean really in the end it's a game and you lost that round. I don't know about the rest of the folks here but I play to win. I have never played a game with the intention of losing. Now that being said I lose ALOT. I get mad not at my opponent but at me. I do what ever is required to come out on top.
You complain about getting hoed picked and vulched like it was cheating. Show me a rule book on this game where it sez these things are not allowed. It is a flight simulation of WWII aircraft simulating aircombat from that ERA. Do you think any of the REAL pilots would pass up a kill because it was not sporting? A common tactic was to follow 262s and wait till they started landing to kill them.
As for being muted dude I'll say that you earned that one all yourself because I see the amount of gibberish you spew on 200 so I guess you got what you deserved. If you don't like dying then try another game like tetris or something otherwise all I can tell you is the same thing I would tell my guys when we were in Iraq and that is to suck it up cupcake...

M1A1 - Thanks for your service over there :salute. I served in a Navy Seabee Unit (okay, okay I was a Storekeeper not a real Seabee,I know, but whatever :)), but never got stationed overseas. I know people are all over the map on the politics of it all, but I want you to know that I personally appreciate you guys and believe that you accomplished something worthwhile. I don't want to veer off into a political deal, but just wanted to say thanks.
As for the rest of your post, I fully agree!

DeBrody - I got no problem with you and I don't do the PM thing. We all have our moments. I got killed by DazyCutr a week or so ago. He gets on 200 and tells me that I wouldn't have lasted a week flying the way I did(do). Well he is right, but I got mad and got into a protracted (lets call it a discussion) argument on 200. Maybe I took it wrong and maybe he was trying to offer help, but in the heat of the moment (most of us are competitors here) I took it as though he was trying to tell me that I fly like crap (he is right, I just didn't want to hear it at the time).
At any rate a lot of us (Zoney excepted (said with utmost respect since he brought me into JG77)) get our adrenalin going sometimes and our dander up and our feathers ruffled. My guess is that this happened to you. You thought you had made it safely and then lost your plane and your perks. Same sort of thing has probably happened to all of us. It stinks I know, but in the end we are all responsible for our own flying win or lose and my observation is that if you post your frustration on this board you will get flamed. Rightfully so in my opinion. While I understand the frustration, in the end posting about it on the board is basically whining. We've all had it done to us so Cowboy Up and get over it and get back into the fight!

Any more flame on me?

You're a poopiehead and make me sad. I hope you think of this message when you're curled up in your pj's wondering where it all went wrong.

Debrody,
If you were a no skill no talent dweeb flying a P-39 that hadn't managed to threaten, much less kill anything, and you had managed to rtb, I'm sure nobody would have cared if you landed you're mission. However, you have skills, and talent, and were flying the uber of uber rides. Frankly, killing you is quite the trophy for the average stick, and killing you in a 262 is a prized trophy. It's a compliment that they want your kill, their cartoon hate is a twisted display of respect you. I <S> you, and given the chance I'd HO your 262 with my Tempest, and up another to chase your smoking arse home with hopes of vulching on landing. And it's not out of a lack of respect for you, but quite the opposite.
They only "hate" you cuz you're good, now man up and enjoy it!!!!
:salute

Sirs,
i started this thread with irony, nothing else. Now i see how immature and childish i was/am. It was a big mistake and <insert an über facepalm here>. But its 2 months old, plz let it be alone. Plz end the flame. Yes, Bone, its time to laugh at me now.
I wouldnt do those actions what some of you did with me, but its time to grow up. Expect less and do more.
