Title: Squads that allow side switching
Post by: Ardy123 on February 14, 2011, 11:50:09 PM
I'm not looking to join a new squad at this time, but just out of curiosity, do any squads allow their members to switch sides to find a better fight, even if there are some squadies on the current side?
Maybe the squad forum isn't the right place to post, I'm just interested in peoples opinions...

Any number of Squads do that.

More then once I've died to or shot down a fellow 80th Headhunter.

So its more of a Squad 'code of conduct' than a game community 'code of conduct' (such as hoing is frowned upon, etc....)?

We don't have any 'law' that says you have to fly on the same side.  Could be you are in a good fight when someone else logs on and they find one somewhere else.  We most times will decide then where we'll fly, and wing up, but there is no mandate on that.  Often times we'll have folks in 3-4 different arenas with a couple in the AvA, a couple in Midwar and a few in Blue and Orange.  Throw in that a few 80th are Trainers, and they may be in the TA, and some might be duking it out in the DA and who knows how many different spots we might.  As long as folks are having fun, it's all good.

I imagine the Muppets are the same way along with a number of other squads.

I know where ardy is going with this. Here is a scenario player A from a squad logs on ..no squaddies are on..he picks the low side of the battle to fly with. A Little while later squaddie b c and d log in and shortly after squaddie e f and g log in. Now player a stays on the opposing side and ultimately kills squaddie b and c numerous times.. what ardy is trying to say is, are their squads that do this and allow it???

I do believe that is what he is asking.

Yes, as sometimes the best fights of the night might be against another squad member.  Sometimes we'll make the decision to hop over to even out the sides with some of us remaining on the original side.  At that point the 38s become the primary targets :)

We are the "Slimebag Spy Unit", side switching is in our profile  ;)
Seriously, call Perdweeb or Sukov, youre always welcome here.

71 policy is: if you want to switch let everyone on squad channel know, and stay away from where the rest of the squad are flying (ie. if we're on the bish front, try and stick to the bish/rook fight.) avoids spying/collaboration accusations, and nasty surprises. having said that it was quite amusing running into wrongway on bish the other day :D

Sometimes half the fun of switching to the other side of the fight as your squaddies is NOT telling them. :)

Ardy:
In Most Wanted we are free to switch sides to find a better fight, but several of our squaddies stay Rook (which leads to some of us being on one country and the rest being rooks).  It's all about having fun however you can.   :rock

LoL Bone, some of our members (including me) are newbies, thats right.
But let it be enough, we arent hoarding, we wont send 5 262s or 20 spixteens to pic everyone, and we fly for fun not for the score. Yes, we LOVE to fly together too, but its a lil thing called sportsmanship, what is missing from some of you guys (<S> the exception, they know who im thinking about). When we see an 1v1 we ask first then jump in  :aok
You said training. Hell yeah, were dam lil newbies couse we cant outturn spit8s in 109 g-6s, and cant outrun temps in k-4s.
But think about it. You didnt try to negate that youre hoarding, rather throwed the crap on perdweeb.   (??)  lol   You called me (as the member of the KN) untrained, it may be true, but that was a really hurting troll. Sorry i had to answer.

Let it be the end of this INteresting conversation.

Geez i did it once and what about when you guys send 10 temps ponies and f4us over an undefended field, we scream "alert possible vdude mission inb" and up, and you BnZ us all then run away uncatchable when one of us can get some alt or vulch the field for half a hour? Debrody=Hypocrite clear enough for ya  ;)
DrBone=HOSS shade? LOL! Your behaviours are pretty much the same, i got a proxy on you then you cry abut a  g-6 BnZ gangbanging a spit16, and ride on it all day. I was talking about the squad, not personally you (but we all know, youre unique.  Its in your signature: "its a gang when more than 1 dfc members are in the same sector"  sure, cuz its at least 10 twit16s there). Sou state you often find yourself alone when you have squaddies on...  it must have a reason when even your squaddies are avoiding you  :aok
Btw  That was the most shameful post you ever did Bone. You dont use your neurons and think about what i was writing but trash-talk.

Edit. if its not the forum to mention the name of the SDL, its not the forum to post some of theese  "<3"

I seen your squad SDL vid against the Jokers, opening sentence: "get them in 4v1 like we usually do" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_lpWrjql5U

:lol   your grasp of English was lacking then Debrody  Kaz clearly says "DON'T go ganging 4 on 1 guy because you will get picked by the high guy"

I'm not looking to join a new squad at this time, but just out of curiosity, do any squads allow their members to switch sides to find a better fight, even if there are some squadies on the current side?
Maybe the squad forum isn't the right place to post, I'm just interested in peoples opinions...

the 479th's only rule on side switching was it was okay if you want but unless otherwise decided earlier it was expected that at least on squadron nights we all flew on the same side together.

Oy vey. You guys give yourself way too much credit to begin with. If I was traveling to Germany and there was a lay over in Heathrow, you guys would call it ankle humping. I just think its a pretty picture. Nothing more. Your entitled to make spekulations about what it means. Sorry if i came across as a chav.

Ardy,
Just don't fight Knights.....I don't understand why you would want to fight them anyway if you say you couldn't find any on the knight front, maybe they have a green horde but normally that isn't fun for long. I normally ask on 200 before I would switch, "How's the fight on the rook/bish front" and normally a muppet or 80th member will give you a honest answer.

Oh,
because sometimes late at night, when I get a chance to play, I'll see a horde of green (knits) vulching another base... and thats it for fights. So, either I join the vulch, which gets boring fast, or I switch sides and fight the vulch. The bottom line is that player volume becomes too thin so everyone gravitates to one fight, most people follow their squaddies, which results in wild imbalances when there are only 30-40 people playing the game. Next time I see it, I'll take a snap shot of the map and post it.

I believe there's a thread around here stating the Drunken Monkeys enjoy a good side switch. :noid

Anyways changing sides for a more interesting fight is fine by me. My only rule of thumb is I go to the other side of the map abit when doing so.

Fighting squadies and likeminded players can be enjoyable. :old:
