This thing was in my trigger finger for a week and got it out finally by soaking it in some hot water for a couple of hours..... it was just too deep to grab..   :rock

You do realize that your fingertip has almost as many nerve endings as your "wee-man"?  It's like sticking "it" in a microwave oven!

I once had a splinter from a 2x4 go in the skin of my arm, then out, then in, then out again!  Doesn't matter how long the splinter was since the rear of it and the front was no longer in the skin, but it made my arem look like a shish-kabob!

I had one of the big needles from a salamanderly pear (about 1.5 inches long) go all the way into my leg once.  When I say it went all the way into my leg i mean I could no longer see it.  It stayed in there for a few days until it swelled up like a huge zit and shot out like a monster ingrown hair from Hell.  :O

I bent down to pick up a pair of socks I had dropped, way back in high school.  When I snatched them off the ground, a splinter about half an inch long or so went underneath my fingernail of my left hand ring finger.  It came out the back about a milimeter down from the nail bed.  That may well be the most painful thing I've ever experienced.  When they talk on tv or movies about shoving bamboo shoots underneath your fingernails, I know exactly how that feels.

When I finally stopped jumping up and down and cussing enough to grab it with some tweezers and try to pull it out, it broke off about halfway down underneath my nail.  It was a terrible week until that thing came out I tell ya.

Woke up yesterday morning and the dog had come in from going to the bathroom. She had a little something extra with her.

She didn't whine, wimper or flinch once. Not even when the vet removed it.

Harden up a little fellas. This is a little beagle we're talking about.  :rock

My dad got some kind of tiny splinter under his index fingers nail at work somehow in December, he didn't really notice it when it happen but 2 weeks later he was in agonizing pain and the tip of his finger was starting to discolor, when he went to the doctor & they told him a fungal infection had taken hold and the discoloration was the tip of the finger dying, so they had to cut off the tip and part of the bone.  I've never seen my father in that much pain before, so make sure your careful with that & that an infection doesn't take hold.

Thanks madda.

The vet just removed it, cleaned the wound and put her on antibiotics.

Surprisingly, she's shown no ill effects from it. This morning when I put her out for the morning constitutional, she took off after a rabbit. She's laying on my lay-z-boy right now, snoring away. Just gonna have to keep an eye on the wound for infection.

Glad to hear she is alright, she must have been scootin to impale herself like that....

I was riding dirtbike doing a hill climb and wacked my forearm off of a tree at about 45mph...I had a peice of bark the size of a quarter go in the skin, and the skin closed around it..had to have it removed surgically I didn't have any whiskey on hand.

On the same note...you don't know pain until you've had internal injuries....or one of the worst thing's I've had...needle through ribs to re-inflate lung after a crash.
Internal injuries feel like someone has a blowtorch to your insides and it doesn't go away.

But on the bright side, the little thing's don't hurt so much after that :)

Yeah I know what you mean about internal injuries, 13 years ago I crashed my car doing around a 100mph, I was partially ejected out the back & the car crushed my upper body against the ground during a roll, broke 2 ribs, fractured the rest, bruised a lung, broke my collar bone, and fractured 3 vertebra, the pain I experienced is indescribable.

Did you faint?  Or did you have to stay awake through it all?

Oh man, great that she's OK.  When I saw the first pic I thought it was an arrow and was about to get seriously pissed if someone shot your dog...was so relieved when I saw that it was just a stick.
