I am able to switch back and forth from AP to HE rounds on the 5" guns without hindrance from reload. Thus, I am able to shoot both HE and AP rapidly, and when shooting at air cons, the HE leaves the trail in the air and is easy to shoot at cons and lead them because of this. I don't know if this should be fixed or not, but it's kind of unfair.

I didn't even know there was two, round choices...

There is. Just press backspace at regular intervals and the gun will fire at twice the normal speed, alternating HE and AP rounds.

The 5" guns have always been that way. CV, cruiser, and escorts all are fast reload and can switch between HE and AA without any delays. My guess you are talking about AA not AP on the ships. Same way in the tanks when changing between HE, AP, HVAP, smoke, or rockets. There is no delay outside of normal reload time. :salute

Oops good catch, I mean AA. What I am saying though is with the new tracer rounds for the HE shells, I can use those when I shoot at an air con and see where my shells are going.

Okay but the main purpose of getting HE rounds in the 5" are for shelling of a base or ships. If you are using the HE rounds to try to shoot air cons outta the sky, then you are wasting your time. Yes you may hit one or two, but you want the AA for air cons, as they have proximity fuses and will explode when close to a plane. HE you have to make contact.

He's not trying to hit aircraft with the HE round, he's using the HE round as a tracer round of sorts.
This is an interesting "bug," though. I bet each round has a set fire rate, and switching between the two allows you to fire the one shell type while the other is "reloading."

Exactly. The HE rounds make very nice tracer rounds.

It was this way for years, I always used that double 5" gun as a 5" machine gun. :aok
It never accured to me that it was a bug.
