I think I would have gone with the 17-930, the EVGA X58 FTW3 132-GT-E768-TR LGA 1366 Intel X58, and the RipJaw 12GB triple channel RAM for just a few bucks more.  But, that's just me.

Some of the components I already had such as the processor, which I'm happy with the 3 main items were the memory. Mother board and case. I hope to have pics to post of prior during and post build to post here. Hopeall goes well and we will see what it can do.

I alrady got the mb and memory and wholly guacamole on the mb, I had the p45 and right now I have the evga p55 mini atx which isn't to my likning. And my 900 case doent have the bottom duct for the PSU and that is one of the selling points of the new case.

Till then LawnDart :bolt:

I had one of these boards and had issues with it primarily for reasons that shouldnt effect you. The memory options are limited to some small degree (16GB) and there is no SATA3 option which can be gotten around. It can do tri-SLI which it turns out you will probably never need. With three 480s in SLI and 16GB of memory I found the MB laggy and with Quadro 6000s in SLI the board was really choked.

I agree with going with the evga x58 but I had to go with tehe MB that matched my processor, and going buy what I had this was the best match. I will keep you gentlemen updated, still waiting onmy case to do transfer of needed items.

Oh the funny thing about the whole build was I got every thing tied up .... closed up and the first time I booted up ...NOTHING,,NADDA zilch... I did a bios check and looked to see what i did wrong on the bios .. Well come to find out in my haste to close it up I forgot to connect the power to the hard drives. :bhead but it is working right now and it runs extremely quiet.

Usually its not leaks but replacement of the liquid that gets tiresome. The stuff doesnt leak so much as thicken and kind of like artery buildup this sludge starts to form inside everything. The only place I found water to be an advantage is on HDs and memory primarily because it takes too many fans and too much noise to get air pushing through the tight spaces around HDs and memory. If you take pride in doing things with your hands and love to take things apart and put them back together again... why not?

Use deionized water with a touch of EDTA for chelation.  That'd keep ya running for a long time.  Think of it as aspirin therapy.

The sludge can be avoided by applying some glycole in the water, I think you're actually talking about bacterial / fungal mass in the system. That's obviously not good.

Distilled water is also good to use as mentioned.

No I mean any solution when exposed to heat tends to reduce and thicken in some small part and over time it accumulates.

Well the cooling system I ordered was apparently out of stock so the customer service tech called me and made me an offer I could not refuse, he upgraded my system.

From this

http://www.crazypc.com/products/PX93780.html

To this
http://www.crazypc.com/products/h2o-220-xt-9378.html

at no extra charge. They get my endorsement just for that, excellent customer service there and really nice guys to deal with.

Check them out they have some cool stuff there fro modding your rig
http://www.crazypc.com/

Here is something rather unique on their site I found
http://www.crazypc.com/products/cooljag-ef4-12-5680F12.html

Just take a look, but like I said I give them 2  :aok :aok for their customer service. Also they did inform me to make the coolant last longer without it "stiffening" up to add some alcohol (not the drinking kind, semp) to the fluid every once in awhile. Can't wait to see what it looks like all decked out, and I will post pics.

Doesn't seem to be the case on the modern stock Intel heatsinks.  People are getting some wicked overclocks while still on the stock cooler (but not as high of an overclock as a copper heatsink, of course).

They are actually a pretty good design, many fins, omni-directional venting (which turns out a lot of new mobo's rely on to cool the MOSFET's and Northbridge), and the stock fans are speed controllable too!

D.I. water won't thicken without outside sources getting into the water to increase the dissolved solids (corrosion or microbial).  The problem with D.I. water is that it is slightly corrosive.  I may play around with a formulation that contains a D.I. water base with a chelant (EDTA), a non-oxidizing biocide (for microbial resistance), and a corrosion inhibitor (probably TT50) just for fun.  Who wants to be my guinea pig???   :t

That corrosion inhibitor is Tolytriazole.  Same as what I'd use...  Unfortunately, they don't address problems with anaerobic bacteria growth.  What I find funny is that they claim that their formula will reduce algae...  You have to have sunlight (or another source of UV light) for algae, so your computer case does the same thing.  All in all, you're paying too much for a very simple solution.

Just as a side note, they advertise it as non-conductive, which is total BS (unless their base is an oil, which hurts the heat transfer properties).  It's funny what companies can get away with these days.

I had to move the hard drive into the small bay so I could put the pump in but it worked to my advantage

(http://www4.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/d666703faa43eaf594f06bd3fec43f135ddf5f77db79e5c16ecf55aa1f90cfaa6g.jpg) (http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=aqh9lbr9148uv53&thumb=4)

the CPU cooler, am gonna upgrade to video coolers as soon as I can afford them
(http://www0.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/049f15e95b155b2977a4ac1724111ce5e26be4ae394d31a47db4c653b5c0a2305g.jpg) (http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=jdie38cxbbtf19h&thumb=4)

Showing new graphics on side with cooler comming out back
(http://www3.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/ae03516c6dcbbfc500d6f90ab393079706f5e2321276e459dd50164364ee74125g.jpg) (http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=442e75d3b327rlm&thumb=4)
And yes there was enough room between the front panel and the hoses so as not to pinch them.

CPU running at 23 degree's Celsius and I pilfered my 210 mm fan from my antec 900 case and installed on the side so to push cool air on vid cards.

Hope you liked them.

OK after having the system up and running for a couple of days I decided to check core temps and i will say I am scared. Is there such a thing as too cool????

(http://www4.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/d648ee61604396fdfa5b066cd72560efb2b7ae6c3f3cbccf8f413a41136f166f6g.jpg) (http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=3n1difme3niwcis&thumb=4)

those temps wre taken after a good 3 hours on game at full 2048 resolution and all eye candy maxed out.
