Title: Rat in the barracks
Post by: Dichotomy on February 23, 2011, 02:06:39 PM
Guys,

Watch the corners and out of the way places for rat traps.  I put some out this morning when that fleet footed rodent got away.  Be sure to check your perishables for signs of feeding or droppings.

Oh yes and don't forget today's inspirational message 'Don't tap dance in the mine field' brought to you buy Crazy Bobs mortuary.

That is all.

what you are failing to realize Dicho is that the rat is a trained animal sent to spy on you and your side and relay preciouse war info (aka, where the stolen beer is located) to the other side. Better stop him quick or they will send a squad of the newly remodled troopers to reclaim that beer!

:rofl I tried that exact thing a month ago when a mouse decided to move in.  Missed though.  Quick lil turd.  Good ol' fashioned snap-yer-lil-friggin-neck trap worked like a charm though. :aok

live with a woman once that had a mouse problem for a while...got tired of the dog tearing around the house trying to catch the things and the traps weren't workin well
went and bought a pair of crosman co2 bb pistols...we practiced shooting the tines off plastic forks at 25 feet (length of the deck on the back of the house)...those mice kept us entertained for a month...then we didn't have a mouse problem anymore.

of course i had to be the one to retrieve the carcasses for disposal...  :(

*side note* - a bb on tile floor combined with bare feet...not good

for mice, i just use the old style snap traps. very rarely does one get the bait without losing its life.

i have a friend that refuses to kill mice, or any rodent...she insists on using "friendly" traps.

uh cap...question...how many "friends" do you have that aren't addressed in the 3rd person as "she"??? or are you just talking about the same one every time???

the one i referenced is my friend that owns a store in philly. she's near south street, and mice/rats are a pretty big problem down there. if i'm refernign to a friend as "she" it's normally her, as we're pretty close friends.

Frkn glue traps   Had to use them, they suck especially if the sucker is able to flip the dang thing over.  Worst thing is it doesn't kill the bugger just disables it.  Like tracking a M8.  Oh, he might have one leg on the outside so he can spin the deng thing in circles, but that is as far as he is going.  Can't easily put the lil varmint out of his misery either, anything you whack it with is destroyed / stuck with glue and mouse guts (gnarly combination).

Blow dart gun would be interesting I think.  :D

Fill a bucket with water.

Run a wire or narrow rod across the top.

Mount an empty TP roll on said wire or rod. Bait with peanut butter.

When mousy climbs out onto the TP roll, it rolls over and mousy goes in the drink.

Mice can't swim well. Poor mousy.

 :devil

this is NOT front page material ;)

and gents we are not talking about mice we are discussing RATS.  Big annoying rats.

Sure they're both rodents and should be eradicated on first sighting but mice are tolerable.  Rats are not. :)

Oooooh Rats.

Well the best thing to do with rats is to just club them to death with sticks and such.

LOLz Melvin  :rofl

ebfd,

I came out of my apartment in NJ a while back and saw my neighbor wielding a shovel, Derek Jeter style and calling his dog to him frantically.  At first I though you sick sumbeach, about the time his dog scatters near his feet and he is still holding his stance and staring down the drive between the two buildings.  I looked to see what he was preparing to whack and it was the oddest thing to see this monster rat come SKIPPING down the drive, going from side to side, and a good part of the time on his hind legs mimicking kangaroo hops here and there.

The neighbor had good aim and nailed that sucker flat on top of em.  But it wasn't over that easily.  Between the dog going nuts, and the rat a roo leaping under a parked car on the street, it must have been adrenaline that enable my neighbor to pluck him out into the street and give him the final blows, before ...... "he was  :pray called on home".

I had some get into the house through a hole in the dryer hose last year.  They knew how to avoid traps but weren't near as successful dodging my boot.  When Squids friends saw me take a hammer to a pair I trapped in the corner they decided I really wasn't somebody they wanted to trifle with.

I once set up mousetraps and came back to check em and found a huge desert pack rat laying dead next to the trap.

He was way too big to fit it the trap but the bar must have whacked him hard enough to kill him, looked like he stumbled a couple of steps and gacked.

STAR meat  ..... a Pacific islander once asked me if I had ever had "star" meat????   :uhoh  He grinned and then told me it was rats spelled backwards.

Somebody is gonna need a bigger stick, mousetrap or hammer I think.  :rofl

Jimson, I always laughed at this   (http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c135/007rusty/mouse.gif) Image is from 007Rusty's signature.  Working off those calories for the reward, big fat chunk of cheese.  :D
