Title: Pilot Movements
Post by: Penguin on February 27, 2011, 12:55:44 PM
Oh no!  The town is down!  An M-3 is rolling in to finish the job, but a downed pilot still remains in the rubble.  He runs to the map room, jumps over a blown out bunker and lies down, waiting for his prey...

The only problem is, one cannot lie down or even crouch, much less jump as a pilot.  It leads to some ugly situations where one is trapped in rubble, but cannot get over a one inch tall block of wood.  To be able to lie down in the dirt, or perhaps crouch would help when hiding from tanks prowling the area.

I've noticed, and it goes without saying that it needs to be changed.

I believe it was HT himself who mentioned that he'd like to incorporate a first-person shooter element to fight the final battles for a town capture...

Yes because lying down as opposed to standing up is really going to make a difference when 1000 .50 cal rounds are flying at you.

It's not, and being able to change your stance has been here since the beginning of FPS games.  Aiming down the sights is not unique to CoD, nor is sprinting or going prone or crouching.

Instead of sitting in the maproom, you wait nearby and jump out to kill the troops.  Read the OP, and notice that this guy isn't sitting inside the maproom, he's hiding in the rubble, waiting for his prey.

exactly... who cares if you can crouch when the guy in the M3 can just turn  a few .50 cals on you? and really, its you against pretty much an armoured car. who will win? i think the latter

I always hate being below P.  :bolt:

When this game gets a FPS mode in town (as hitech mentioned he wanted), we'll get jumping, crouching, and all that good stuff.  For now, I don't see any discernible benefit to a pilot lying down or standing up.

I'm pretty sure they do.
