Title: Finally!
Post by: Pigslilspaz on February 27, 2011, 06:09:03 PM
Thank you guys so much for helping me out with choosing what to use for my first build.
Parts list is here (http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=14979945).
I know I don't have a cooler (using stock), but I do not plan on over clocking anything, due to my tendency to have things die basically right after voiding warranties.

Just need to wait for my next paycheck to buy the i7, but everything else has been ordered. Will post pics after it is built.

Make sure you post pics here when you get it put together.. and be careful on your power supply, if you turn it upside down then you might have to modify the case so there is adequate air flow. Other than that awesome picks.

I don't think air flow will be a problem with the case's 4 120mm's and 250mm

Changed the Wireless adapter to the rosewill one now there. Realized right before I purchased it that the other card was wireless G, instead of N

Saved yourself a headache there for sure.

Not really... he probably wouldn't have even noticed a difference...

Noo!! Don't buy that I7. If you msut go i7, the 950 is cheaper and faster.

But sandy bridge is out, they're correcting the motherboards now and should be out next month. Much better, and cheaper.

I cannot believe you bought an 850w for that little machine..

The screw slots are not squared - that is, you can't put it upside down and actually screw it in.

the 850w is there for a reason. I'm 90% certain i'm going to be adding a second 460.

If you haven't already, look at the i7 950... It's $30 more, BUT... when you're checking out you can see the box for promo codes, right? Click the link right next to that, scroll down, and there's a $20 off promo for the 950. Meaning you pay $10 more for an extra 200 MHz or so. (whatever the gain is, $10 isn't bad)

Just did that last night for my order, saw your post and wanted to suggest it.

yes you can.  cases are built so ps can be installed upside down.  but that is only for after market cases, no dells, etc.

Joke's on you, was able to. Need to get my hands on a camera though. Also gonna be using it for aces in maybe a month. Not allowed to run cables everywhere where I'm living and PCI wireless adapter DOA. going to try and RMA it.
