Title: The City around HQ
Post by: badhorse on February 28, 2011, 08:38:56 AM
It use to be that if you destroyed the city at the HQ before dropping the HQ, the radar stayed down longer than if you just dropped the HQ building itself. In other words a percentage of the destruction of the city was used as a multiplier to determine the total length of time radar would be down when HQ was destroyed.
Does anyone know if this is still the same or has it been changed?

Are you talking about the central city, the one surrounded by the river in the new city/strat complex?  Or the little town buildings at the HQ complex?  It's my understanding that the actual city is what drives the resupply of all strats, including the HQ.  Take down the city, and resupply of everything takes longer.

as far as I can tell it's still the same. the HQ and all the factories are resupplied by the city

If it is not supplying the HQ, then there is a bug in the terrain.

I don't understand, so having the city down does or does not slow down rebuild times?..

It slows the rebuild time, not just for the HQ, but for the factories also.

The City supplies the factories which send supplies to rebuild the fields. If you dropped the City to 0% and kept it there, and dropped the ammo factory to 0%, and kept it there, any fields with destroyed ammo bunkers would never have ordnance.

Along with what Rolex said, you must hit the city before damaging the other strats (or HQ) for any effect on resup times.  If you drop the ammo factory and THEN dropped the city, the resup time for the factory will be unaffected.  At least that's my understanding.

The Nightmares tested this a while back and it turned out the strats stayed down a much longer time. It's true also that if you capture a major enemy base it takes longer to get strats up. At least it use to be.

that was back in the zone system because if you captured the zone base all the strats for the zone now did not resupply the other bases in the zone, strats on the bases would stay down the full 2 hours unless someone manually resupplied them..

We need a more in depth strat system & targets for the bomber guys. Bombing towns & hangers gets old and the city/strat combo while cool, just isn't worth the long flight times. (exception is when you can get a large group together and do a run, then the vox chatter and banter with squadies on the flight is a blast)

Knocking CITY buildings down is nearly impossible unless you really run a carpet bomb mission with 6 sets of buffs.

Not a complete hijack, just all I will say about this.
