Every Memorial day I give a speech to young people, and also just about every single person I know about what Memorial Day means to many American families.........  Even today, there are thousands of American families that go to Europe for the holiday.  They take the time to go see a family member that gave their all just so these families can still have the right to travel freely.

These images are not my favorite, not by a longshot, but they are certainly the most memorable I'm afraid for me.

I think my favorite thing about the WW2 era would be the sense of unity that seemed to envelop the country.

Its the same feeling I think we all had right after 9-11.

Too bad it takes things like that to bring us all together.

Oh yeah, I liked the planes alot too! :airplane:

Just looking at this picture while listening to this anthem stirs something inside. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U06jlgpMtQs)

On a side note, on a couple of recent (2005-onward) May 9th parade videos, I swear that when the camera pans to them, those veterans are speaking the lyrics of the Soviet anthem, not the current one of the Federation.

The KMS Scharnhorst, KMS Gneisenau, and the Richelieu were the most beautiful and striking ships ever designed, in my opinion, so they are my number 1.

The Yak is my favorite aircraft to this day. I love the look. Tiger is the face of WW2 tanks and I always loved the boxy appearance.

USS Alaska and USS Guam were also quite striking (I am a huge fan of Battlecruiser-like ships).
