I know many of you know Airwarrior as that is where manyof us came from. I also know there are many who never played Airwarrior And may have wondered what these old farts have been talking about.
Well, here it is. Try it out for yourself
Just downloaded it and it works. Forgot how to set up joystick views and to get the trigger to fire but "F" is the firing command + an - the throttle.
Its a Demo I just now stumbled across. Last updated in 2009. And to my amazement it works And best of all. its free.
Now you too can relive your past glories Or see just what the hell this badarse game was we keep talking about In all its glory complete with 3-D Graphics Beautifully rendered cockpits and aircraft with ultra realistic terrain.

Thanks for the blast from the past. While I was aware of it at the time from various press (magazine articles here or there) I never did play AW. I was into other games at the time.
I think I'll give it a try.

how did you install it on Windows 7 Ult. ( and is this win 7 ult 64bit? )
how did you go about making the game start & play??? ... IE- did you use any compatibility mode settings to play it?
am interested, could possibly dig up some old films and use fraps or something to convert them to avi/wmv or whatever

Won't install on my 64bit Win7.

I saved all my AW stuff on CDs. Got the different versions, all my films and K-AWSM (the Kraits Air Warrior Sound Manager). Never thought about running it on this machine.

I have all of my films from back then too, as well as all of the Gamestorm CDs once those started coming out.
I might have a PC at my folks' house with Windows 95 and AW4W still on it -- no idea if they kept that machine.

Hitech should ban you for attempting to draw customers away to another flight sim as ubertastic as air warrior 3.

Installed with no compatibility settings on Win 7 Ult x86(32bit).
Ran with no compatibility settings, It started just fine however it did crash when I Alt-Tab'ed it lol
-
Same here. Saved the original game CDs.
I go back and play the "missions"...basically rudimentary AI where it's you against hoards of AI.
Pretty fun, but the horse-excrement graphics compared to today makes it look arcade now.

I haven't played since 1999, so it allows my memories of the game and graphics to be much better than what they were in reality. :)

Is there anyway to download it with out the speed....... thing?

Really? Doesnt do that for me. But then again I run firefox with the noscript addon. Maybe that has something to do with it.
If you would like, I'll mail you the file.

Now we're talking! Here's how it looked when I played it...

You can still download the original Amiga and Atari ST versions, probably the original Mac version too, but that would be in B/W (I think, I never played the mac version). You'll need an Amiga or ST emulator, but that would be a sure way to run version 1 on Win7.
