Title: quick question...
Post by: gyrene81 on March 05, 2011, 10:21:08 AM
the write up for tunisia says "formations-off" which i took to literally mean those of us assigned to be bomb****s could not use formations...and planned our missions accordingly...last night one of my squaddies upped a ju-88 with the drones and i made him get rid of them...was that just a glitch or are formations supposed to be enabled?

Hmmm... In the Orders I received Special Rule #4 says Bomber formations are enabled/available.

SPECIAL RULES
NOTE: special rules sent out with the objectives trump these special rules.
1. JU87 pilots get a second life in an aircraft assigned to them by their CiC (it can be any of the available Axis plane
types).
2. JU87s can not auger or bail en masse after their first strike to get their second lives. The must do their very best to
actually land and deplane at a base. If they die in combat or lose their plane do to battle damage they get their
second lives with no penalty. If the Admin CM discovers that after conducting a strike they bail or auger in en
masse a PENALTY will be incurred for such actions.
3. Nobody on the allied life gets a second life flying a plane.
4. 4. Bomber formations are enabled / available.
5. A minimum and maximum number will be assigned to each aircraft type. The CiC of each side must deploy the
designated minimum per aircraft type and can not more than the maximum per aircraft type. Outside of that the
CiCs can deploy the aircraft types anyway the want (i.e. can have squads fly 2 aircraft types and in split they wish
as long as squads are assigned same objective).
6. Partial damage is awarded for CV damage. If the a CV suffers 2000 lbs of damage 40 points are awarded. If a
CV suffers 4000 lbs of damage another 40 points are awarded for a total of 80. If the CV is sunk the full amount of
120 points is awarded (the last 40 points is added to the previous 80).
8. If both CiCs agree they may have the setup CM end the frame early. This is usually done if one side wipes out the
other side (i.e. 60 versus 5).
A20G - no min requirement, no max restrictions
B-24J - no min requirement, 10 max (not available at A22)
B-25C - no min requirement, no max restrictions (not available at A22)
B-26B - no min requirement, no max restriction (not available at A22)
F4F-F - no min requirement, no max restriction (only available at C50)
P38G - no min requirement, 50 max restriction (not available at A22)
P-39D - 21 min, no max restriction (not available at A22)
P40E - 10 min, no max restriction
Boston Mk III - no min requirement, no max restriction
Hurricane Mk IIC - 7 min, 15 max (only available at A22)
Hurricane Mk IID - no min requirement, no max restriction (only available at A22)
Seafire Mk IIC - no min requirement, no max restriction (only available at C50)
Spitfire V - no min requirement, no max restriction
Spitfire IX - no min, 33 max
9. Dead pilots may gun bombers. They may not man the guns of airfields or ships.
10. Ships can maneuver by the their side during the frame as long as they stay in their containment area. Ships must
stay in containment area defined in the objective orders. If they go outside of the containment area a penalty will
be assessed.
11. All targets must be attacked within the first hour of the event. Both CiCs should include sending their battle plans
to me so that I have proof that they planned to attack their targets by T+60.
12. All attack targets assigned must be attacked by a credible force. I define a credible force to be at the very least 2
x 4-6 squads (so 8-12 planes) or 1 7x10 squad. Obviously CiCs can deploy a larger force per target as their plan
dictates but no defending or attacking with just 1 x 4-6 squad.
13. All defense targets must be defended by a credible force. I define a credible force to be at the very least I define a
credible force to be at the very least 2 x 4-6 squads (so 8-12 planes) or 1 7x10 squad.Obviously CiCs can deploy

My fault really.

Due to miss communications our assigned Setup CM did not setup the arena. I logged in at 10 PM Eastern to check on things an hour or so before the frame. Noticed the 'race' terrain was loaded. I loaded Tunisia. After about 10 minutes I started to setup the arena realizing nothing had been done. Twenty minutes later at 10:30 Eastern I called 68Falcon and asked for some help because I realized I was not going to get it all done in time. Between the two of us we set up the arena on the fly. I knew formations were allowed for some buffs so I told Falcon to just enable formations. That would be why your squadie took off with them.

Players can check the box that removes formations, but I guess he did not do that. Not a big deal. Just let Ghostdancer know.

Well, there is now conflicting orders.

The Website says Formations are disabled, but the orders said they were enabled.

Sorry about that. Objectives sent out by to command staff by email trumps the website. Will go and change the website in a sec.

IMO seems too many spit9s and p38s... you load out those "max" numbers and over half the allied team is flying the best craft in the setup.

I saw the end result of "too many P-38s" first hand and then later in the tower. Seems they could be cut back by half or MORE and still be a major threat.
