I was thinking, and before you take cover hear me out. Would it be alright to have a single dual 40mm manned AA gun on top of the shore battery? Or perhaps even a single 20 mm like we have on the CV? Just some sort of ground to air resistance... Now it’s my first post on wishes for about 3 years so im open for criticism. :ahand

ahh just wait for them to get lazy and fly in front of it, and shoot em WITH the shorebat :)
-
Pretty reasonable wish to my mind. Shore batteries often had AAA defenses close by.
-
Sounds like a nice idea to me. Also, some better damage modelling on the SB would be nice...I've always thought it vaguely ridiculous that you can destroy a big ugly lump of reinforced concrete by firing a lot of rifle calibre bullets at it :P

yea true, but it seems like a reasonably good balance the way it is, because they can cause alot of damage quickly to a task group if it has a shot. And on some maps, they can cover a maproom or a GV spawn, and cause much trouble (as is my method).

Gotta love picking off tanks at their spawn in one. :devil
But I agree, the SB could use SOME kind of AA defense added to it. I'd be fine with a manned 40mm single and/or 2 quad 20mm auto's.

what do you consider close by? what countries had shore batteries with aa guns on top of the bunker?

Got me, I said nearby...do your own research. I have seen coastal AAA defenses by the Germans in Norway and
France.

I had a shore battery shoot my 262 down as I flew past once.

Heres a neat one from a model company. Seems to be a replica of a german bunker.
anyway thats what I have offhand. And its a good idea :aok

Maybe when the shore battery is remodeled :old:

Twin shore bat with anti air! I can dig it. Maybe our virtual admirals will stop parking the CV 2 miles from shore so often.
EDIT: The LVT spawn would need to be changed to be closer to the beach though.

agreed...

To make it fair, keep the rear of the shore bat open. When someone jumps to that position, a few troops man the guns. Kill the troops, and the gunner hits the tower and has to re-up to continue firing.
EDIT: That way, the attackers have to brave the anti-air guns to stop the operator yet it wouldn't be a suicide run.
2nd EDIT: The troops manning the gun should also be doing the Macarena.

HTC wasn't all that worried about shore batteries and used a pretty cheap concrete company. Saved a few bucks.
Let's just revisit the whole thing (fleets have been updated after all) and make them more of a gun complex than a single 6" tube. Couple big rifles, some AA, a decent stereo system, some pin ups...
