Title: a v1 idea
Post by: lulu on March 06, 2011, 02:54:05 PM
My idea.

Some field has a of V1 platform near (but not too much near) the field but randomly located around.

When one of this field is attacked a countdown starts.

After the countdown V1 are fired against an enemy field as planned by an A.I. or by a player.

The platform has just four acks and a map room so that they can be taken and used against enemy target.

Each platform could be connected with a train that bring load to resupply if they are damaged.

 :salute

*sigh*...the v1 and v2 were fire and forget weapons, not designed for aerial targets or even precision strikes like would be required to hit tanks...based on realistic usage, what good would they do in the main arenas?

The V1 was designed to end its flight over London.

Had london been further away, or closer, the path and destination WOULD have been changed so that they still ended up at the same target.

Also, not all V1 sites were in the same area. Some were quite geographically remote. Yet they still all ended up in London.

They ARE programmable. So to speak. You CAN change them so they hit the proper point you want. Yes they were fire and forget, but were by no means unstoppable. A large effort was put into place to stop them, and many were intercepted by ack and by fighters.

Did it not just work on a counter and every mile would count it down untill it hit london? other then that being changable, I dont recal if they could change flight path so to say

in your research did you happen to run across the information on how many missed london proper? there was nothing more precise than send it in the general direction and let it fall out of the sky...

I have heard about an accuracy of 30%, some other sites give it about 25%.  But tens of thousands of them were launched.
