Does anyone know how they made the rebel fighter squadron voice sounds? I think it would be really cool to talk through the mic like that  :aok

That effect is typical of SSB (single sideband) communications on shortwave.  You can replicate the effect with a shortwave, CB, or marine band receiver that has has a BFO (beat frequency oscillator) to get that funky phase cancellation sound.

"How many hoarders do you think, gold 5?"

"Say about 20 hoarders, some on the deck, some on their perch."

That is the only reason I would want this implemented.  That and maybe a Porkins reference.

Edit:  The Porkins reference would be a good one to make when passing over a fully ack'ed field.  "No no I can hold it...BAHHH!   :lol
