Title: Question about hit detection
Post by: Ardy123 on March 07, 2011, 05:11:12 PM
HTC will probably not answer this but I ask anyway...

I'm assuming that the plane models are logically broken down into a tree of 3d rectangle that roughly match the shape of the aircraft, and if bullet intersects any of these boxes, it registers a 'hit'. Is this assumptions correct?

If so, is it possible for a bullet to intersect the hit 'rectangle' and not actually hit the plane, or vs-versa, and a bullet hit the plane but not intersect a rectangle?

Thanks

What your asking is it possible to have a near miss count as a hit right?

From what I remember seeing of a picture showing the wing loads, AH has a much better setup than just a bunch of rectangles to "kinda" look like a plane. So a hit is a hit period.

If its the same wing load picture I think you are referring to (the one with fw 190d9), it only displayed the lift & thrust vectors across the aircraft.

It may be the one, but I was using that as an example. If the wing loading is that sophisticated, I would think the hits calculations would be as well.

Tater shots that take off the opposite wing you shot still confuse me.

That just means your aim sucks so bad you aren't hitting what you thought you shot at!  :neener:

Your assumption is incorrect , you must hit the actual shape to score a hit.
