<S> to the Rooks tonite - that was an amazing B-29 raid. If you have screenshots from that buff stream, please post.
I proved to myself that the 262 CAN be used up there at 32K, and it looks to me like the head on pass with the 30mms was the way to go (even tho BLBird sent me home smoking, I managed to get 2 of his B-29s). On the 2nd run I took a P47M up to 32K over the Knight strats and managed to get 1 B-29 before the other smoked me (attacking B-29s from behind is definitely a BAD idea).

Just wanted to add my thanks and salute to the Rooks (Swoops among them) who staged that huge, escorted, high-altitude B-29 raid last night. :salute
This is what I posted this morning over on the JG11 forum...
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Late in the evening, Frodo, Hopper, Zud, and I each grabbed a Ta-152 (Zud was in a K-4 I think) because a large, escorted B-29 raid was reported. I discoed shortly after launch. Upon relogging, I saw the other guys getting close to the bombers, who were Rooks, going for the Bishop strats. One by one, our brave pilots confronted the escorted Superforts, claimed a few bombers and fighters, and were shot down. Meanwhile, I was chasing back and forth all over the map, up at 39,000 feet. The bombers ultimately made a huge circuit of the map and also hit our Knight strats! But, just before they did, I managed to make a single head-on attack (at about 33,000 feet) and nailed one of the bombers, piloted by Swoops, who promptly sent me a "salute" over text. The bombers' return fire took out my radiator, engine oil, nose cannon, and one wing cannon. I glided to a deadstick landing.
And so to bed.

I believe I was the first enemy plane to come into the formation of B-29's last night, as the bomber group was still climbing out. Scouting for my squad I caught you all around 22k - 25k-ish (escorts were 35k-ish)...I was a solo TA-152 on a slight decline holding max speed. It was a great sight for sure, and I had to just let my mind wander to that of a German coming up to a flight of 17's or 24's during the war, seeing all the firepower...pretty cool.
Great job, was a fun time!
Oh, and yes, I died miserably on my 2nd pass slicing through the 10 formations from left to right. :salute
