Who all on here will leave a badly damaged plane alone while flying? I always do, but I like to scare them to death with a flyby right over their heads :devil
-
I got a ton of PMs from a nameless enemy about killing him while he had half a wing........ :)
-
lol, I flew right over a spit as he was trying to land last night with half a wing
-
If it's red, it's dead!
-
in the main arenas...rarely if ever
in the ava...fairly often, especially if they are within a few miles of their base
-
if it's flying it's still a threat, ive more than once let them go only to see them try to kill other people as he trys to escape
-
Depends on the situation and the size of his mouth.
A straight up respectable player I’ll <S> and wish him best of luck on landing.
His game rank, squad, country, or type plane doesn’t matter.
On the other hand, a big mouth, arrogant braggart flying a kite I’d chase across the map and ram to keep him from landing.
Of course this is just my pet peeve about bigheaded mean people.
But, if the situation is defending or taking a base you’re better off letting him live. As this will keep him out of the fight longer allowing you a chance to beef up your defense or capture your objective.
And of course if he has to fly two sectors with half a wing and kills himself trying to land it, he’ll hate himself to no end. :bhead

Huh, same exact thing's happened to me. I couldn't see the guy's damage he was so low, but I'da still shot him anyway. Next thing I know my buffer is full of white-text whines. Ain't my fault he can't keep track of his control surfaces :devil

No quarter given and none expected. The LW MA's are a no RTB zone, if I can help it. :aok

Careful. I've killed a few tards in my time who thought I was out of a fight just because most of my aircraft was gone or on fire. Nothing like eeking a crate around to kill with that final burst before disintergration. Even better if a HO.
I relish the PM "A-hole! I was going to let you go!"
Sucka.

It is something I am doing more and more of late..... prefer the fight over the end result ( don't get me wrong..I do like the kills)...especially if the con in question has just managed to hold off many attackers...

I have let people live if they run out of ammo, the way I figure, if I run out of ammo against them 1 day, they might do the same for me, adnd another benifit of this is if they do run out of ammo, and it is a big battle, they have to fly all the way back to base to land, then take off again and fly all the way back, so it keeps them out of the fight longer then if I were to shoot them down
-

Same thing with bombers that keep hitting important airfields. Shoot the drones and get your kills, but make them fly all the way home before they come back to blow your stuff up again.
-
If they put up a good fight I'll leave them be very often. If he/she has to go through some of my friendlies I may even attempt to escort him/her and ask others to back away.
It does not make you a better person or a better pilot. It does make for a bit friendlier competition.
All enemy planes are targets. It's your choice.
-
I agree completely, as I don't quit until my plane's unmaneuverable, I expect nothing less from my opponents. If it's not falling out of control, on fire, or exploded, I shoot it. I've been bitten too many times being 'merciful'.

I shot off half the wing of a Spitfire Mk XVI the other night and broke off afterwards, knowing he was out of the fight and saw as he broke for home when I broke off. I stayed off to the side of him and settled down to "fly his wing" and escort him home and when I saw him lower his gears as he neared his base and I can see he was trying hard to keep his Spitfire from rolling on the damaged wing and augering in. When the Spitfire pilot was confident that he was going to make it, I positioned myself on his six and shot him down as he was about to touch down on the runway. Nothing like giving someone false hope and then dashing it right before their very eyes. Great fun.

OK. That one was funny.

The last time I was trying to act "noble" and let that last surviving Ju-88 head home, I got a bunch of nasty PMs by that player.
That cured me very much.

If I know who it was and we had a good scrap, I'll let them rtb. If it's anything else, good luck trying to ditch or land.

When I first started playing, I was under the impression that this game was about dogfighting.
As I slowly learned a little SA and ACM, I sadly came to the realization that this game isn't about dogfighting, its about winning.(As evidenced by the AH front page)
You will very rarely come across someone that wants to fight on equal terms in this game. (higher!! higher!!)
After some time, I'm afraid I've been absored into the collective and look at things like Hoing, vulching, camping, and shooting at guys in planes that are falling from the sky as OK. (I win!! Yaaay)
So, I guess my answer is no. given the opportunity, I will shoot anything, anywhere, anytime.
This is the 1st game using real people as opponents etc, that I've ever played.
It has turned me into a raging misogynist.
-
I have let people live if I run out of ammo, ...

-
I generally let all of my opponents escape and often I will let them shoot me down just to boost their self esteem.

I used to love high bailers. I could guage their alt and know how long they'd be floating. Go off fight, yada yada. Come back and pop them just before they touched down 5 min later.
Sometimes life is really, really good.

Being a nice guy (unless pushed), I'll usually let an obvious damaged plane RTB, or if I am picking on some uppers over enemy base and I see someone who is RTB, I'll usually let him land. Now if I damage someone like oil hit, fuel hit or whatever. I'll disengage to give them the chance, but if they follow me then I'll turn around and (hopefully) finish the job. I usually don't attack landers or people hotpadding, unless of course its someone who made me very :furious then no quarter is given :devil

Most time I let them go. I try and play for the fight. Not real worried about a kill, but each to their own

Doh!!
I meant to say misanthrope.

Weve gotten silly sometimes and escorted enemy goons to the town with the squad flying tight formation around it. One can only imagine what theyre thinking
-
I had a great 1v1 with a jug earlier today when I was in a K4, I knocked his wingtip off with a tater, sent him a <<S>> on 200 and let him go.

i leave them alone unless I KNOW who it is and they have previously done something I would not approve of (shooting on landing or flying back wounded/winchester/bingo)

I'd rather fly alongside an AFK flyer until they come back and realize there's a P51B 50 yards to their 4 or 8 o clock wingman with them and as soon as they move i hop in back and shoot :D
-
I just throw myself in front of their guns so they can shoot me down and feel better :)
If a guy's really fought a good fight and ends up damaged and unable to fight anymore, I sure don't mind letting them rtb. The fun was when the fight was in doubt.
I don't expect that to happen during my thousands of barely flying 38G wreckage flights, but I've had guys pull off, and let the wreck stay up. Of course they know that the odds are I'll crash anyway, but it's a nice thought gesture.
-
This Honor crap only exists in the movies. War is ugly. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen & Marines will kill the enemy wherever he is, as long as he's still moving, trying to get away, still a potential threat, trying to take a plane back to be repaired, to re-up and kill more of your countrymen. Period. Nobody smokes and flies past me and lands safely. Especially in a game where a kill is a kill. Every time I get all polite and don't Ho anyone I get Ho'ed, Rammed, and Killed by the jerk that rammed me. Polite with the enemy of your team is BS. :old:

If I badly damage a plane in a good 1v1 fight in the MA I will let him rtb and throw him a good fight....
Someone HOing me or ganging me is going to die good and proper

Define "badly damamged". :devil
How about dead-stick, oiled windscreen, smoking, gear down, just seconds from runway. I rarely fly and land even more rarely (cause I suck at it horribly), but darnit I had a good shot at a landing. I hope the buff gunner who incapacitated me at 10k up got the kill and the last second picker got an assist.
But knowing it's a 'war' game, upped a new cartoon plane and went hunting the bastage that blew my cartoon plane up.

Ah, well see, if you're already physicaly above the runway and seconds from landing, there's a lot more functioning parts of your plane to deprive you of while still giving you a sporting chance at successfuly landing it.
-
If he/she's trying to rtb and I can clearly see that, I won't bother them. If they're still trying to fight, well then it's a different story. Don't need them reporting anything back anyways...

Depends. Most of the time, I let him go. He's no longer a threat to me, and he's generally on the deck, leaving me no room to maneuver when he inevitably drags me under a buddy of his.
In fact, the first thing I try to do when heavily damaged/missing a wing, is to take whoever is going for the easy kill down to the deck and towards a green dot. Every time, on the deck towards green. Keep that in mind, all you gung ho queens. You're getting one, but you're not landing it. :P

I have often done this after watching someone fight thier heart out. Saluted em and wished em a good landing. Recently the opponent managed to get home 1/2 wing, at least 2 sector flight to land some good kills (don't remember name).
I will also let an opponent go when damaged if they are no longer a threat and the mission at hand is a priority. The kill for me is less important than the team effort.
And then again, there is the most likely chance that it's just a furball and I don't mind taking them out. I've seen 1/2 winged planes, even planes without wings, take down a friendly in thier death spiral.
Mostly tho I like shooting down my team mates kills after they have taken off thier tail! Must be the Hyde in me :x

Ack Ack, I liked your story and your sense of humor :aok :old:

Many years ago I flew by an f4u-4 who was missing half a wing. The bastage shot me down. LOL. I can't remember the pilot but he was excellent!
PS. I wasn't laughing then.

Had a good fight with a guy in a 190 one night and his wing got ripped off. It was such a good fight I figured I'd let him try to make it back. He had to land it out in the middle of nowhere, so I decided to land beside him. We both jumped out and the .45 battle was on! I did win that one. :)
