After being shot down. It's probably because of one of 3 reasons: 1) I'm trying to think what I could have done better or what error did I make; 2) Contemplating my next flight, distance, location, & alt; and 3) you are hoetard, picker, vulching coward, horde loving, gang banging wiener, and your mom doesn't even like you either.

Okkkkkkkkkkk.... :headscratch:

:lol
I meant to salute a player the other night but his countrymen kept me so busy I didn’t get the chance. Two nights later I sent him a PM with a Salute and an apology for not being more prompt. We both had a pretty good laugh. (Better late than never).
<S>

I send out a salute if it was a good engagement or if I know the guy I shot down or got shot down by. I don't salute for kills that fall under your rule #3 unless the guy salutes me first. One of my squadmates says he salutes no matter what, but I don't share the opinion that every kill is worth a <S>.
I also use it to rub it in to PM whiners. Tell them to stop crying and send a <S> and watch them not salute back :neener:
-
I never give salutes to anyone. It is a sign of impish weak feeble mindedness. I do however, return them out of respect, sometimes :joystick:
-
only for pilots that truly fly with class during a fight, multiple nose to nose close turns during the fighting but no one shoots, you just dance until someone gets the shot, either you win or die that means nothing to me, that few minutes of pure Adrenalin white knuckle flying will get you a big salute from me and WTG's if i die and my Respect as a Pilot for the Fight, those are the pilots we need more of :salute
-
But what does she look like? :x
and your mom doesn't even like you either.
-
Even though I will salute anyone who does it first, whenever I see someone land kills in the beloved 51 (D or B) I will each and everytime (unless of course I am distracted or not online) :salute
-
I don't nomaly give a <S> mostly becuase I suck that much. If you died under my guns it is normaly due to a loss of higher brain function for a split second on your part or plain luck on my part so no salute needed. If I died under your guns (more likely than the other way around) it was probably on a dificulty level equal to shoe tying, so nothing <S> worthy there either.
-
I salute everyone I shoot down, doesn't matter how they play. Unless I am still engaged , then I try to salute them a bit later but sometimes the buffer has scrolled past their name and I am too old to remember whom it was.
I wait for the salute from folks that kill me. If it does not happen after a few minutes then I throw them one, again, doesn't matter how the play.
I do not think of the <S> as something to be given when you only respect the guy, or like him, or think he is a good guy, or think he is a good pilot, or think it was a good fight. I throw it out as an acknowledgement of our encounter.
I never say a thing about not getting a salute from anyone for any reason, it is their choice.
I also, almost always apologize for a collision, dosen't matter if I think it was my fault or not.
There is really only one derragatory thing I do. If you go HO with me and you die and I live you get this quick little PM from me:
"<S> Live by the HO, Die by the HO"

Well yeah Duh! I take some social risks every now and then for sure. So what. It gives the board vulchers a chance to put the little rollie eyes emoticon up.

I don't do <S> at all. I probably appear like an arrogant bastard and get the occasional sour PM. (http://www.purezc.com/forums/html/emoticons/icon_shrug.gif)

I have never been completely clear on the concept myself. Who is the saluter and who is the salutee? Ive shot <S> only after what I consider is a good (and fair) fight. If you jump me on the runway trying to up, F,you. However i digress.
Who is expected to initiate a salute, in your opinions.

I don't expect a salute from anybody, but if two guys were squaring it off and thought it was a good fight you'd think the guy in the tower would send the salute first, seeing as he doesn't have to worry about the next con on his way to shoot him down. But it's up to him.
-
Sometimes a <S> is taken wrong. I mean why would I salute someone I picked or why should they me. I saluted a guy today that I killed from my buffs. The reason being is at least he wanted to play and bombers bore me. Sometimes a necessary evil.

I want 5 minutes of my life back for reading this thread :old:
