I remember watching a documentary about some uncivilised South American village and they had a yearly competition with their neighboring village. They would form two hordes on horseback circling each side of the field, someone would eventualy get brave and ride off towards the opposing horde and throw either a blunted spear ar sharpened stick into them, turn tail and run for his mates with about ten guys on his six. I was laughing so hard and had to explain to the missus because she thought it was horrible.
