As a point of reference, mines running at 64 at the moment. Only things open are email client and chrome (browser). I do run some background processes at the moment, as when I game I'm trying to grab a bit of info on what is causing my particular machine to crash at times.

Others will be along to let you know a more definite figure shortly no doubt!

Microsoft's DEFAULT services for Windows 7 Home Premium are  41 services total, that are set to "Automatic-delayed start" and "Automatic"  on a clean OS install

(edit: "1" Service can possibly have more than "1" process running it..... example 1 Service - using 2 or 3 processes, so although you have 41 Services running, you might have more processes, like 56 or 62 processes..etc... ..... every computer will be different depending on the User's choices )

this will go up depending on different factors, like Graphics card, Sound card, joysticks, RAID settings, 3rd party Voice/VOX programs, etc........

Currently I'm at 43.. including 14 instances of scvhost.exe   :O

The only thing open is Firefox (and Avast in the background).
