From the article: "The Dutch navy says it has discovered the sunken wreck of a German World War I submarine off the island of Terschelling and will designate it a war grave.
There is your answer. It's nothing to do with "laziness", it is called respect for the fallen "regardless of what side they fought on".

Having respect for the fallen is one thing, taking a picture of a war grave is another. I don't see where having a picture of that sub would disrespect the fallen. Have you never seen a picture of a military cemetary?

they have pictures of those f4u's in england that are marked war graves,
are you saying those ppl are being disrespectful taking pictures so the world can see them&pay tribute without having to actually go to the lake?

Then tyrannis and you should take some pictures of it!! I doubt there is much it left after 95+ years, but then again I don't need to see pictures.

I took a picture of Patton's grave.
It is in Luxembourg.
-
It is also a reminder of the cost of war and I am not speaking of the sub.

Great. Back on topic. When a shipwreck is designated as this sub has, it usually equates to "leave it alone".

Cnn has a pic posted before it was sunk.

I think it is always neat to read stories about old warships of any kind or country being discovered, especially being it has been 70+ years now (and darn near 100 since WWI). Unfortunely as time goes on when the wreck rusts away to nothing. Well, maybe that is also fortune being there is always going to be someone who wants to rob a wargrave (assuming they can get to it). I have nothing but respect for people in both wars who fought/died/lived through it regardless of what flag they were under. Soldiers/Sailors are still human no matter what.

http://uboat.net/index.html have a gallery of u-boats raised after the war if you are interested.
-
they may have just located it with a surface ship using sonar. they might not have a submersible to actually go down and look at it or take a picture
-
Maybe they did take a few pictures and they revealed it was in more in "historical gravesite" condition than "historical artifact". It's very interesting, but I think I'll respect the discoverer's judgement over that of the curious masses.

Also if interested I recommend the book "Shadow Divers". It is about the discovery of a U-boat off the coast of NJ by recreational divers and their efforts to determine the U-boats identity. :salute
