Just know that your daughter signed up for a great field that is in high demand today. Congrats to her and I wish her God speed. :salute

1. She will deploy frequently.
2. She will attend Airborne School (hooah <---I am a Master Parachutist, so a hearty Hooah at that)
3. She may receive language training.
4. Even though the Active commitment is 2 years, reserve CA deploy equally. Best be would be to stay active, right now it can be hard to be a reservist and hold a job.
Finally, <<S>> giant salute to her and her decision. Best one I ever made. I started out as a private, no 4 year degree. Now I am comissioned with a 4 year degree. The Army has been very good to me. If she seizes all of the opportunities, there is no limit to what she can accomplish.

tell her a single .50 is as good as a pair, and if she shoots like her father, she will be a terror to those on the receiving end!

Hug your daughter and then shake her hand from all of us. I have nothing to add but heartfelt thanks for her service to our country an the hope that she has a long and distinguished career.

Well said.

Well I have one piece of advice,
remember she is your daughter and give her a hug before she leaves for bootcamp, because she won't be the same person when she comes back.
999000 remember to thank her from a former Marine and :aok :aok :salute

Dad,
Spend as much time with your little girl right now as when you see her later she won't be a little girl anymore, she will be a grown up entering the adult world. No sarcasm just pointing out the obvious as she will be changed a bit even by just boot camp.
Let her know how much you love her and support her and also tell her that an old soldier thinks she has made a great decision. Thanks to her from me for deciding to serve.
Tell her to keep staying active in mind and then look at it after her first year is up. As already noted lots of folks are reluctant to hire Reservists or Guardsmen as they know they are subject to call up. It's wrong and they are prohibited from discriminating against them but it could keep her from getting hired in the first place. Staying active, provided she likes the Army life, will be a good way to make a living in this economy.

Congrats to the parents and to your daughter, I am sure you are proud. CA (Civil Affairs) plays a vital role in so many ways and I hope she finds the duty both challenging and rewarding. Like Dirt I am also a Master Parachutist and I wish her the best of luck in Jump School if she attends. (no one wants to be a leg at Bragg :) )
I recommend a few things, #1, stay in contact and be there if she needs someone to talk to. #2, Trust her like never before and be prepared to get a new daughter back after her training, she will be different in so many ways. #3, If she gets discouraged offer her gentle encouragement and put her back in the game, often they just need to know someone believes in them. The training can be difficult for anyone and especially for a woman. #5, last and most important..always be in her corner during her committment and understand that deployments (she will most likely deploy) can provide new mental challenges for soldiers and thier families when they return. Let her know you are there for her if she should need you.
God speed and best wishes to your daughter.

Be proud of her, support her and realize she is becoming a member of a rare and special minority: those who have served and those serving. :salute

Good luck to your daughter! :aok
According to what I read, that score is a percentile, which means she did better than 79% of the other folks taking the test.

What Mav said. Also get ready because they will send your little girl places you don't want her to be.
<S> to you your daughter and family.

God Bless & Godspeed that she does her hitch and comes home safe and sound. :pray
Bless ALL who serve! :salute

Tell her to read up on politics and humanitarian missions. She wants to be the smart cookie in camp. Little things like knowing Word, Excel, how to type etc. This is a smart person MOS. She can learn some very marketable skills. Members of Congress hire these skill sets all the time.

Tell her not to worry, Basic is a cake show.
Tell her work hard and always be looking to move up the ladder.
For you....I know I needed space from my parents sometimes, they called too often(not a bad thing). Tell her when she comes home she isn't anything special she can still go to Jail :rofl DoD card isnt a "get out of jail free" card. Dont worry, she will be just fine.

I know the CA people we have here are always with us, talking to the locals and coordinating the construction of schools, water systems, clinics, things of that nature. As a female, she will most likely be put on a team so she will be able to talk to local women since it is against their customs to have foreign males talk to their women.
It looks to be a very satisfying job and very rewarding.
Best choice she could ever make. Once in a life time opportunity.
