Title: Looking for P-38 films
Post by: PFactorDave on March 17, 2011, 11:41:57 PM
So this tour, I spent a couple weeks in the 109k4.  I wasn't trying to master it, but simply trying to get familiar with what it is capable of doing (and the power of the tater!).  I  figure the better I know each aircraft, the easier it will be to judge e-states when I run into them in combat situations.

I've been thinking that I would like to spend some time in the P-38 family next tour.

I would like to get my hands on some films of some of you 38 jocks using the plane.  Films designed for training would be great, but I would also love to get some films of combat sorties that I could examine.  Films of the 38 being used in an actual combat enviroment would be great.

Thank you in advance!   :salute

Thanks Traveler, appreciate it.  Interesting films.  I am hoping somebody will hook me up with some AH films that I can watch in the viewer from different perspectives and analyze.

Here's one of mine, from BoG scenario that just finished. There's abit of flight time before the action starts (about 20 min.) Lemme know whatcha think  :)

Here's part of a flight from about a week ago (give or take).  Not the best flying, in re-watching it I can see some mistakes that I think I made,  but I think it does show a few things that make the 38 a little unique in that it has great low speed handling, stability, and concentrated firepower.  Keep in mind this is the 38G which doesn't have quite the power that the J/L models have.

Somehow in the clipping and copying it seems the sounds levels got a little screwy, if the playback sound is off it's the film.

This is a good fight I shot today,

Skip past the climb out and there is plenty of action.
