Title: sea wave lengths
Post by: lulu on March 19, 2011, 04:10:42 AM
Could we have a more long  sea wave length?

Lot of time on your hands?

I suppose that it is just a parameter to change.

so, to add to the heavy graphics already in game...lulu wants to toss in waves

i have to ask lulu, are you a teenager with nothing better to do at night but think about things without actually thinking about them?

we already have waves gyrene, i think he just wants it to look less like a swimming pool and more like a sea.

Maybe you yourself should start thinking. Not everybody on these forums, or in this world,
is from the USA. AFAIK Engrish isn't Lulu's first language. Lay off. It was a good OP in the
proper section.

+1 to the OP, in due time. Heavy seas at some point in the future would be nice.

+1 to this

and +1 to the idea, be cool to add types a wave patterns to the game, maybe random whirlpools&such? so we can replicate poc:at worlds end mailstrum battle for epicness  :x

but on a more serious note, yes to waves how about adding in reefs & maybe Some animals. (like say, a whale that follows the TF and surfaces sometimes. wouldnt contribute anything, just add to the scenary)

Just waves length, not waves amplitude - perhaps a small introduction of a set of different
amplitude could be good too.

I think that HTC has experimented a bit before to choose waves length and amplitude but after many weeks ideas could change.

 :salute

p.s.

My pc's performance is poor (as Skuzzy  said  :old:) so i don't want to see any dramatically changes in AH requirements as many of you.

I think that waves length is just a simple value parameter in AH and perhaps a more long wave length could have a positive impact on frame rete.

uh huh...i know english isn't lulu's native language...and no   :neener:

my retort had to do with lulu posting some wacky ideas like tyrannis does once in a while...as if it was a dream that woke him up in the middle of the night and he posts it without actually thinking about it

now i understand lulu, thank you for clearing it up...i have detailed water turned on so i see ripples on the water, not exactly waves but not smooth as glass either...it's just a texture effect...with detailed water turned off, the water has no texture...and i believe if your system is a poor performer you have detailed water turned off, so you may not see waves either...unless they are along the shore line as an actual 3d effect...like the wake behind ships/boats

I can see this:

  w. length
  ------
 /\     /\
/  \   /  \
     \/     \
      ------

also if detailed water is off.

I asked if it could be possible to have longer wave length - see picture above.

yeah, i think so too. it would really mess up the naval gunners aim, wouldn't it now? what witht the pitcing and tossing of the seas? and... are i say it... submarines ollowing the TG too?

lulu, as far as I know we don't have any active sonar ingame.  So although you are correct, the wavelengths are long under the surface, I don't think we should be wasting any time making adjustments to them.   :salute

LLogan, i'm speaking about sea wave length, not radar !!!

I hope that a more longer wave length will offer a better seascape.

+1 to add some rolling and pitching to smaller boats.
