OK, so over spring break I went skiing in Colorado with our church youth group. I got back into town on Friday and my mom came to pick me up. After she picked me up, we went to a pharmacy (i got a sunburn on my face that blistered up, i guess it isnt smart to not wear sunscreen at 12,000 feet) so we could get some stuff for my face. Then, we went to Sonic and got something to eat. When we got home, I went to the back door because I noticed one of my mom's cats laying down. After I got to the door, I saw the cat was bloody and barely breathing. My first thought was that it got attacked by a dog, but I noticed only 2 holes and thought that was weird. I got my mom and she came over to the door with me and said the same thing. It looked like her cat got attacked by a dog, so she left to bring the cat to the vet and I stayed home. After my mom got back, she told me what the vet had found. They found 2 .22 hollow point rounds in the cat. Who would want to shoot a cat? Seriously, our cat is the nicest thing you'll ever see. We get to bring it home from the vet tommorow and send the bullets to the police.

It looks like you never got over your days as an altar boy. :devil
But seriously folks, the cat probably tried to remove someone's face. It nearly bled out, but you came to the rescue in the nick of time. I hate cats, though, and my opinion may be biased.

that is low... I hate some animals, but i would never shoot a pet. that is beyond low..

I shoot the heck outta wild cats, but If its someone from the area who knows its your cat that messed up. I live in the middle of no where so I know who owns what cats.
and Ive been know to provide a bit of overwatch to the known cats of the area when dealing with wild cats. :D

dam kids messing with a 22. Hope the cat is ok. :pray
-
Very sorry to hear about your cat. I hope everything works out well at the vets and it makes a full recovery.

Something like this?
Pet Cat: Overwatch this Razor 2 actual, we've got a feral in sector zero-two-zero-alpha
Overwatch: Copy that ground team, what is your request?
Pet Cat: Requesting one salvo of three Varmint Grenades, indirect fire
Overwatch: Roger... bang! bang! bang! Tangos neutralized, Razor 2 you're cleared to proceed
Pet Cat: Understood Overwatch, Razor 2 out

pretty much no frags though just a beat up .22
Yea monkey I figured that why I was sure to say that I lived out in the middle of the woods cats are tough though Im sure itll be fine.

people are messed up - like the guy who shot my puppy with a 12 guage....she got lucky...so did he.
I drove her to the hospital with my strobes on and after she was taken care of I proceeded to beat that man within an inch of his life and take his shotgun as my own then call the police and hand it over to them.
He now rots in jail.
Possession with intent to distribute
Child support he hadn't pain in years
Warrant out in another state
Endangering several children
Animal Cruelty

I really hope your cat is okay. People are messed up.

My cat was recently shot with a .22, too.
I also live in a small town where everyone knows everyone, including their pets. Stray cats around my house don't have a chance (especially since I live just outside city limits and am surrounded by fields), but I would never shoot one of my neighbors' pets unless they injured one of my pets.

Hope your cat makes a full and speedy recovery M0nkey_Man

Sounds like a real low life loser you got.

I don't care for cats but to shoot a neighborhood pet just because you can is low. Sorry to hear it Monkey.

Sounds like some 12-17 year old punk to me who's parent's don't know what he's doing with that .22.
Killing someone's pet for sport is scum. I do not like cats, but as a dog lover I respect anyone's right to love whatever pet they want to. Lucky it lived, but vet's bills are never cheap. Whoever did it needs to pay.
MAKE SURE: there is a police report made! Also, call the local paper and tell them about it after the police report is made. That is what stirs the local poop storm and gets people talking...sometimes someone will turn the perp in or the perp will come forward. A judge would make the perp pay restitution (the vet's bills) plus community service...lucky if no jailtime for animal cruelty.
I live on a mountainside not far from a city. There are pet cats here on the mountain and plenty of ferral cats. I don't care about the wild cats because there isn't a rat or mouse anywhere on the mountain. My 2 german Shepherds almost never catch a cat but did once. We have a fenced in back yard to keep wild animals out and our pets in...but sometimes a cat will sneak in. They got theit teeth in one once. I hollared at them and in that split second the cat got away. Like I said I don't care much for cats, but if I can help it I'll do anything to keep my dogs from killing a cat--pet or wild. Usually--that cat smartens up and never comes back.
I hope your cat gets well and back to normal and the perp gets it in court.

our cat comes back from the vet tommorow

Good :)
Keep us informed on anything the cops find. They need to get scum like this off the streets, who knows what this could evolve into if it is indeed a youngster.
Here's to hoping your cat has a full recovery. <S>

Here cats are subject to the same regulations as dogs. They can't roam. They must be inside a fence or in a cats case a pen. They are known to climb out of fences. Or they must be on a leash.
Could be the cat was marking up someone's truck, car, or threatening their bird/birds.
On another note, if your in a neighborhood, you should not be shooting guns unless your in fear for your life.
-
We had a pet cat that we adopted and later found a .22 lodged in his skull. We had it removed and he lived a long happy life.
I hope the jerk who shot your cat gets what's coming to him.

There is no excuse to shoot a domesticated cat.
If it was sleeping on your car's hood and you're too lazy to get off your porch and shoo it, you deserve shooting out your own windshield and valve covers because you're a lazy idiot.
If you only buy/build bird cages/enclosures barely strong enough to keep your birds safely in but not something wanting ot eat them out, maybe you aren't smart enough to own and take after birds.
If you ever find out who did this to your cat MM, do me and that poor soul a favor and don't ever tell me whom it was. Glad your pet is turning out OK.

It isn't the responsibility of the bird owner to build/use cages strong enough to keep out some one else's pet. That being said, ammonia water in a spray bottle or a garden hose work just as well at keeping cats away without causing harm to the animal or killing it. No reason to shoot a domesticated animal and no reason to let your own domesticated animal roam freely, way too many people out there who don't mind popping a pet if it is on their land or messing with their pets.

You shoo a cat off your hood.... do you have any idea what claws do?
Cats can open cages... and even if they don't, they can rattle a bird.
It's best to be a good owner and take care of your animal.
On the other hand, if someone was just shooting cats.... that aint right.
We have shot dogs when out checking on the cows. A single dog is not threat but when they get in packs they are dangerous. We will shoot them if in packs.

Not to give you a hard time but more out of curiosity, why shoot wild cats? Back when I was out on the West Coast, we had wild cats all over the SU campus and at NASA Ames. I reckoned they were sort of playing a useful role - though they were definitely feral and hostile (and one notable one was probably more than 20 pounds, all of 'em mean). As for that useful role, I think both of those places would be overrun with rodents pretty quickly but for the little food chain those cats placed themselves atop. On your own property, especially if you have pets out and about, I could see them as a hazard but, on large public complexes, they seem pretty useful (and maybe that's why some of the food staff tended to leave 'em scraps now and again?).

Let's just try not go there with personal and social responcibilities, it errs too close to a political discussion, and the discussion will quickly degrade.
You shoo a cat off your hood.... do you have any idea what claws do?
Likely nothing worse than your local DOT yard does to your car during the anual road surface maintenance and resurfacing. It's nothing a good coat of turtle wax before-hand and some elbow grease after-hand can fix. Yeah I might be blaming and taking out my agressions too on a neighborhood cat in a situation where I'm also having to avoid driving within a few thousand yards of any trash or dirt hauler on the road or having to avoid driving against a strong enough headwind for fear of loosing my paint.
Cats can open cages... and even if they don't, they can rattle a bird.
So if you had a small rattle-able cage with a delicate or unreliable latch and left it unattended outside in your suburban backyard... or would you have a sturdier cage with a latch too complicated for the neighborhood kids to get past, nevermind a creature without an oposable thumb?
It's best to be a good owner and take care of your animal.
Couldn't agree more, but people think we all live in Maybury and that there is some magic line in the sand with pets and responcibility that at some point you don't have to do anything, it's all "that other guys" responcibility. If this were true, we wouldn't need pounds and shelters and you would of never known a hungry or abused animal in your entire life... so, have you? I know I have, unforutnatley. But fortunatley, I also know people out there like me, that are responcible pet owners, that adopt from pounds and shelters only and who take after their pets and any other that happens by in their life in need of some care... not to shoot at them just for trying to find a warm place to sleep or a free meal trapped in a cage.
On the other hand, if someone was just shooting cats.... that aint right.
Agreed, I've never known a domestic animal that wasn't dyeing and desered being shot.

Feral dogs I assume (not domesticated pets)? If so then you're doing what ya gotta do, feral dogs are no Lassie.

Some people are man enough to admit they live in California and to say they don't like someone openly and straight to their own face.
You don't even have the pride or gonads to tell us where you're from.

I know I would have a moment of insanity if someone shot my dog. Glad mr. kitty is doing ok.

I have had to shoot a feral dog before, and what do you mean by take care of your animal? there are no leash laws where i live, and what would you think a small little black a white cat could do to anything?
(we got the cat and bullet today)

can you just disregard that, ive tried 6 times to edit it.
