Title: Flying Like My Life Depends On It
Post by: ImADot on April 01, 2011, 10:07:11 AM
I'm gonna fly like it's for real.  I won't engage if I don't have the high ground.  I won't dive down to help you if you're too dumb to lose all your advantage.  I won't up if there's a red darbar in my base's sector - don't even expect it if there's a red dot on radar.  You won't see me bail from an undamaged plane; I'm landing EVERY sortie, even if I have to fly 30 minutes to a non-flashing friendly base and you're screaming for help to defend some VBase or a CV.

Don't forget to fly at 30k to save fuel.  Prices have gone up since the 40s!  :t

Actually, wouldn't one have to create a new GameID and start his perk-bank from zero?  ;)

You sound like one of those sad people who use the term, 'cartoon airplane'; they lack imagination.

The whole world must seem so dull to them.

Most important thing they teach you in flight school is how to land. (For some reason)

Bad idea.....  Fly like it's a game, learn how not to die, take risks, fly crazy, do things that cannot be done in real life......................... ..........................

That way when the time comes you'll have a better chance of staying                           alive.

If it's not an april fools, I say good on you.

I do this in a p51 some tours. Last time I tried it I lasted about a week and got 34 kills before I died (went head on with a spit16 and thought he might not fire, duuh!).
The tour started off 1on1 with a brewster though, I was lucky to win that one so it was all blessed from then on
I find it exhilerating the further I get along the more risk I take the more fun. I try to clear people still, and fly risky situations that I believe I can survive. That adds to the excitement.

Good luck old boy. Tally ho.

Other than it being an April Fools joke, which it is, it is also not how things were done in reality.

These guys had a mission to perform and that mission didn't usually accommodate them only engaging when they had clear superiority or turning tail and running when the odds were steep.

Its even more fun when you get a wingman to fly with you like that.
Back in AHI, I would make a mission for just 4-5 guys and we would go drop a bomb on a vehicle base radar and return home. Sometime we would just fly a patrol. I always had different guys joining and we had alot of of fun. Very rarely did we run into no action. Usually we would all return home.

Chalenge has debunked the myth that flying at 30,000ft will save you any appreciable amount of fuel.  His tests have shown that he was able to gain the most savings by flying at 36,000ft and in a straight line, avoiding any unnecessary pleasantries like fighting that could potentially cut down on any fuel savings.
