Road to Rangoon

Join up and fight one of the first major air actions of the Pacifc War. The IJAAF goal is to bomb Rangoon into submission. No force on earth has yet been able to stop them. Can a regrouped RAF and the AVG make a stand to preserve the last artery of supply into China?

Aircraft in this scenario include for the Axis A6m2, A6m5, Bf-110C4, and G4M-1. For the Allies the P-40B, P-40E, Hurricane MkI, and Brewster Buffalo

This scenario will be 5 total frames and will return to the normal time during the afternoon on Saturday (US Time).

Show-Up Time is 3:00 pm Eastern Time on Saturday Afternoon US TIME in the Special Events II Arena. The arena will be closed to admittance after that time.

The frames run as follows.

Week off for Final Coordination
May 14, 2011: Frame 1
>May 21, 2011: Frame 2

Ok, I guess I'm just dense..
I registered on he ahevents.org site.. but I don't see where to register for Road to Rangoon. I go the Currnt or Next Scenario page, which  has the Road to Rangoon details, but I see no link, nor have I found one to actually register for the event.

What am I missing?

Make sure you are logged in first, then when you go to "Current or next scenario" there should be a box on the right hand side that says registration.

Brewster B.239 has no place in any scenario involving the Japanese.

Karnak, it is a substitution for the F2B. The heavier American variant. These specific F2Bs were property of the RAF.

It is a much better and more accurate substitution than the F4F that was used last time the scenario was run.

It is a much better and more accurate substitution than the F4F that was used last time the scenario was run.
I know what it is a substitution for and it is completely inappropriate.

It is similar to running a 1942 scenario and using the Spitfire Mk XVI as a stand in for the Spitfire F.Mk IX (if we didn't have the F.Mk IX).  It forces the Japanese side, which should have a massive advantage in turn rate and radius to fight a fighter that almost matches the A6M2's turn rate and radius while also fighting a fighter that is significantly faster than the A6M2.  It puts the Japanese at an inappropriate disadvantage,

HTC should really add a B.339 or F2B to fix this problem.

The Brewster is slower than the a6m2 except below about 4k.  I think that the a6m2 outturns it, but that's just based on my feeling flying the a6m2 and Hurricane vs. the Brewster.  Anyway, the only other plane available would be the F4F or FM-2, both of which are faster than the Brewster.  Also, the a6m2 is better than most of the IJ planes that were really there.  Still, the IJ gets the a6m5 to help offset that the Brewster we have is a bit better than the Brewster that was there.

Given that the first two runnings of Rangoon worked out OK, and given that the Brewster is a better fit than what we used before, I think it will be OK.

I'm with Karnak although the Brewster variant is the least of the mismatch issues
imnsho. First though I *know* you folks have to work with what you have and it
will still be fun, but cripes. P40E's, A6M5's and the most overused substitute in
scenarios history the ME-110.  I's been 12 years and still can't have a proper
early/mid war scenario.
