Title: First impression
Post by: Pigslilspaz on April 06, 2011, 10:29:04 PM
I was hoping that this arena would be fun, and joined in. The whole time I was there was basically 5 v 1 and noone willing to change sides. Is this normal for you folks?

Nope.  Usually the regulars will switch to balance out sides and stay out of 1v1 or 2v1.  There are times though when, being humans, people like the safety of numbers.  We see this more with visitors from the MA.  We like it when people stop by to join in the fun, and if they come back a few times they'll start to see the small differences in gameplay, like asking before jumping in a fight or not being #3,4,5 in a dogpile.  It just sounds like you happened upon one of "those other" times.

What gave you the impression the arena might be fun?  No enemy icons, historical plane matchups, quick time to fight, new terrains, curious if you were looking for any of these things?

I have noticed that JVZilla has been in the arena afk for 2 days.  This worries me, not because it throws numbers off, well not so much, but does anyone have his home #.  I hope that he has just forgoten.

Anyhow, I just left the Main Arena, with no less than 4 attacking my Spit8, for at least 2 minutes.  Let's see, first there was the La7, then the Bf109K4, then the 190 that turned out to be a Ta152, also a 190 Dora.  I recall seeing a Yak in the area, but I don't recall if he made any attempt at killing me.  I got off a few pings as I forced a number of overshoots, mostly just dodging 30 mm taters everywhere.  I finally succomb to a1a1, and we exchanged salutes.  Of course, I added that half the fighters in that sector were rtb bingo ammo.

So, for fun's sake I say throw caution to the wind, especially in the AvA.  No perk points, or front page announcement, so just up, and ask someone to join you in a fight.  If others feel the need to jump in, do your best and kill them all.  If unsucessful, it only takes about 2 minutes to get to another fight, maybe by then you will have more of an advantage with a brand spanking new plane, and full ammo belts.

Pigslilspaz, it all depends on where you are coming from as to if you will find the arena fun or not.  No one there can control anyone else's actions, you can only control your own.

most weeknights if you're in the arena somewhere between 1930 and 2300 eastern time, you will find better situations.
