A friend of mine de-briefed 2nd and 3rd platoon. He said they went through an incredible ordeal.

My nephew is with the 101st in Afghanistan. They've been seeing action pretty constant since they got there last June. He's lost his best friend and a number of guys in his unit.
We ask an awful lot of our kids.

We certainly do Guppy.
This got me to thinking, and I realized that we lost a friend in Iraq a few years ago yesterday.
Clark was at our house while on leave before he died. He was very humble, he never once mentioned that he was a SEAL, even though we knew.
I asked him if he needed anything sent to him, his response was for beef jerky and baby wipes.
We've lost so many good people, I'm just terribly sad about it all.

I noticed in the video that soldiers are wearing a new camo pattern. Looks more like the woodland camo of my day rather than that ACU digi-crap.

I read somewhere that the Army is Fazing out the ACU and are now going to what is called Multi Cam.

I personally like the ABU the Air Forces has. I dont understand why they got rid of ACU's
Never been in the military do to medical, but wish I had a chance to serve.

Looks like that stuff is more suited for the muddy/Rocky/dark brownish
of the Afghani landscape, from what I've seen.
I would assume ACU's would stick out like a sore thumb if you're prone
on a mound of damp dirt.

Yep next week fort lewis is gunna issue out a few DFC for an air cav unit for action in 2010 deployment to afganistan

Wow I never thought the Multi Cam would work so well. I saw some at the store I was like why are they getting rid of the ACU's for Multi Cam. To me it didnt make sense. When I watch Restrop I thought the ACU's looked/worked great. It seemed to blend in well and broke up everyones body outline pretty well. After seeing motherlands Post I am impressed with the Multicam.
-
anyone whose ran around in the woods fora bit can see that the acus aren't that good. the only way I could see em workin is once they've been faded they blend better, other than that cant wait to get Multicam as the standard uniform. (which I hope will happen)
-
The thing about those multicam pics though is that those individual uniforms were chosen specifically for those pics. Look how much orange is on the uniform of the desert pic. I bet if you swapped that uniform out with one of the ones from the other pics, it wouldn't magically blend in so well. Still though, I like it better than the ACU.
Here's a pic of me in South America. I don't think the good ol' woodland camo did so bad.

Nice flashlight. :lol

Was SOP down there during training to keep them out in case you fell into some ungodly vegged over hole and were too f'ed up to dig it out of your gear for signaling purposes. Things like that aren't implemented for the fun of it either. It means something happened prior serious enough to make it SOP (just during training).
-
I was laughing because I have a few of those old school lights.
Wasn't sure if they issued them anymore. (Since 95)

Geezus that sounds like nightmare.

USRanger if you see the new Multicam it is more brown than green. Kinda a dry earth brown atleast that is what I saw.

Ranger, are you laying down ?
