Title: BZ's Bovington Tank Museum
Post by: Curlew on April 08, 2011, 04:14:35 PM
I spent 20 mins and only got half way through this page, just so many tanks to look at. Has anyone been here before? Anyone want to fly me there?

I love watching the Bovington tank days on Youtube.

And BZ certainly seems to know his stuff as well as taking great photos.

Yeah I was there in 1999.  The Tiger was sitting on the floor but it didn't have it's turret installed.  It was still so huge.  They had one of the T-34/Tiger conversions around the corner from it and it was so much smaller that it was hilarious.  They look good from a distance and are better than nothing, but the original is a whole magnitude of whoop bellybutton larger.

They have an excellent collection, and unlike the now defunct Armor Museum at Fort Knox they actually have the majority of them out on display.  There is also a decent armour museum at the far end of the field at Duxford past the US Museum there.

I could see myself stealing a tiger tank and police all around me telling me to "Turn off your engine and exit the vehicle" then I'll run em over and run (Kidding) and make shells and destroy something, I don't expect to get that far  :huh

Isn't this the dude who got stuck on the high way and couldn't move? I havn't watched it yet.

EDIT: Yep this is the one, saw it a few years ago on you tube. Man was crazy, but i'd do it, from a stand point of not intentionally putting anyone in harm. I just want a tank for myself. Or maybe a black hawk Helicopter.... which is priced at 5.9 M
