Is anyone using the blue thumb button on the x52 throttle control and have it mapped for look around ? How do you like it ? I have been using the mouse for look around and not even using the throttle control. Just cutting engines totally off with button on joystick.

Not sure why you would? The hat switches on the joystick are perfect for this. I have one mapped for "level" views all directions, and the other for "up" views. Mine is X-52 also

When I had my X52 I used that throttle button for "look up" and used that in conjunction with the hat views. I also used the pinkie trigger as a "shift" button and programmed that same throttle button as "look down", so pinkie+throttlebutton+hat engaged my looking down views.
IIRC you had to disable something in the joystick properties in order to use that button.

Tigger, to use the thumb mouse you have to be running the SST software. I found that the 52 works better without it, so I've never done any experimenting with it.
I always map my look-up to the pinkie trigger. It's much faster than using both hat switches. I have the upper hat switch set up for screenshots/film record/and dive flaps.
I don't know why the OP wouldn't use the throttle, opting for cutting the engine off by using a button. To me that just seems silly.

You mean the one that has a "D" next to it or the one that has an "i" on it?

He's talking about the mouse control thingamawhatsit. It's right by the thumb button with the "i" on it.

Oh that one, thanks for explaining. No I don't use it. Used to use it as an actual mouse but it does not work well. I do use the mouse button however, have it programmed to wheel brakes.

my little blue rubber button is used as a mouse, i also have wireless mouse as well, :old:
There was a thread about how to set it up can't remember how

Yes the mouse stick can be used through the programming software. I used the SST software for years with no issues, but I've heard of other people having nothing but problems with it.
The "i" button however CAN be turned into a regular button without using the programming software. There is an option in the joystick properties to make it into a normal button, which can then be used without needing to install the SST software.

Yeah, I use that one for toggling icon types. Works well.
I'll have to try out getting the "i" to work on mine. I guess I never really messed with it. That'd be a cool "fire cannon" button.

First the "i" did not work on mine either, then I downloaded the SST software (thanks to Bombrich for explaining me how to use it) and made "i" work like a normal button. Some time later I got a new computer and did not install SST, "i" still worked like a normal button. So you just have to download it ones, reprogram it, and then you can just delete it.

Actually, I just mapped it. That was a DUH moment for sure. It didn't work in game without SST while running Vista, I guess I just never tried it since switching to win7. Now it's my new tater button.
