Seen em 3 times and have their entire catalog. Great Band! :rock

Big Rush fan here. Geddy, Neil and Alex are all top notch musicians and songwriters.
It is a complete travesty that they have not been nominated for the R&R Hall of Fame. I mean seriously what more do they have to do. :furious
Seriously look at this list:
2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees:
Alice Cooper
Beastie Boys
Bon Jovi
Chic
Neil Diamond
Donovan
Dr. John
J. Geils Band
LL Cool J
Darlene Love
Laura Nyro
Donna Summer
Joe Tex
Tom Waits
Chuck Willis
On what planet do the likes of The Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Chic and one hit wonders like J. Geils Band have more talent then RUSH. :huh
The RRHOF is a joke.

Going to see them next Saturday. Have seats center stage 10 rows back :x will post pics after the concert

Best concert Ive ever seen. :rock

Supposedly the R&R Hall of Fame believes that RUSH do not meet the requirements of induction because they are not, by definition, a rock band. In my personal opinion, I think it is a crock of BS. RUSH is a progressive ROCK band and they deserve the honor of induction more than most that are in there already.

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice...

They DO deserve to be in there. However, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper and Emerson, Lake and Palmer deserve to get in. Yes, I know of the "trodden entries over the past few years". I pretty much ignore the whole thing entire and chuckle annually when I see the nominees.
-
Plazus can you point me to where you found that information of "not being a rock band"?
No one can tell me that RUSH is not a Rock band in any way, shape, or form! Hell if anyone were to tell me that "Working Man" is anything BUT a rock and roll song then I have sincerely lost my mind. Yes they have evolved over the years as have their fans.....I have heard the argument (hogwash IMO) that their change in "style" has been rationale for keeping them out of the HOF but not from any "credible" source ;) .
If you ever get a chance, for those that haven't, pick up Neil Peart's book.... Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road.....an excellent read!!!!

I guess somebody forgot to tell the station managers at thousands of rock, and classic rock radio stations all over the USA and Canada that RUSH is not a rock band.
Seriously, Rush still gets more air play then anyone on this years list, (at least around here) except maybe Neil Diamond and Bon Jovi. I can turn on any of the 3 FM rock stations on my radio preset, and pretty much be guaranteed a RUSH hit every 90 minutes.
PS. I'm a big Neil Diamond fan too. Of this years list he definitely deserves it most.

Or Steppenwolf, or E.L.O, or KISS, or Moody Blues, or Foreigner, or REO Speedwagon, Warren Zevon, Cheap Trick, Tom Petty, etc, etc....
My list of who should be in the R&R Hall of Fame ahead of some of this years nominees is a long one.
So yea... it's kind of a joke.

I read the statement in a magazine a few years ago. But for the life of me I cannot remember what magazine it was. I personally believe that Rush deserves to be in the Hall of Fame as much as any rock legend already in it.

have you heard their 2 new songs? Caravan and BU2B. they are amazing :rock

I saw them a few times way back when.
My favorite albums were 2112, A Farewell to Kings, and Hemispheres.
Seemed like their style started changing after that and I was liking them less and less.
The other day, a part of 2112 came on the radio and I cranked it loud and sat in the driveway.
I could almost smell the sweet fragrance of Columbian gold.

I saw Rush last year and they were great. They tried to push some of their new songs...they were meh. They did all their classics/hits but they played for like 3 hours. They didn't play Closer to the Heart, wasn't happy bout that but what am I gonna do. Still a great concert.

We've been smoking Lebanon.
We've burned the midnight oil.

My first Rush show was Seattle Colliseum during the Permanent Waves tour, March 19, 1980.
Absolutely magnificent!
Saw them next for the Moving Pictures tour, same venue. June 18, 1981. Mind blowing stuff. The skunk weed just iced the cake.
Have seen them a dozen times since. Three of the greatest musicians of my era.
-
Providence Civic Center for me back in '80....
Anyone that questions these artist's work ethic OR dedication to the fans needs to take a peek at just how often they play to their audience. Take a peek at their touring schedule over the years...

I wanted to see them this year, but I have heard Moving Pictures ad nauseum throughout the years. I'd rather hear them play tunes likes In The End (their best tune IMO), 2112 (all the way through like in 2000), The Trees, The Fountain of Lamneth, Marathon and others never play anymore. Gimme the obscure stuff for a change.
But out of all of their stuff, Moving Pictures is last on the list.
-
Never was a big fan of Rush, guess seeing them onstage at my high school sort of put me off all their success.
I actually saw them twice at 2 different local schools, this was before Neil was on drums,Neil played for another high school band called Fludd at the time,ya saw them too......... :old:

They will probably gain entry in 2112.

That would be most apropos.

It doesn't matter. Aside from ZZTop, they have had the longest unchanged lineup.

1st time I saw was on the Counterparts Tour. I still prefer the Fly By Night-ish stuff. By-Tor, In The End, those songs are just excellent and thank God the radio never got a hold of them.
