It only takes Greebo 20 mins to skin a plane, that guy's a machine!
-
Love it!
Found the post on the front page hilarious
The Gooney Bird cometh!
Also, I'm assuming that they will allow a Japanese skin for it as well, since they L2D2 and L2D1 were License built and purchased (respectively) DC-3's
-
:rubs hands together:
That's gonna look GREAT blowing up!
-
This will be a real huge update. m3, two zeeks, c47, tank control system... and who knows what else comes :x
Awsome.
-
As long as they keep rolling out the teaser images, I don't mind waiting longer for the release, I like them to be BIG updates.

Me too. I'm still fascinated by the water and terrain. Only because that's where my planes seem to end up. :lol

This next update is looking as if it just may be the best update HTC has done in a long time! A new interface for ground vehicles (see Pyro's thread further on down in the Main Discussion), a remodeled M3 along with a new M3 variant, a remodeled A6m2 and the all new A6m3, and now we have a remodeled C47 Skytrain "Gooney Bird". :aok
Yee haw!
-
it looks fantastic!!
now onto the P-40s and F4F/FM-2!!

New Goon, you saw me dancin' around
Without a plane to fly in, without a ride to the town!
New Goon, you knew I wanted to march then
You'd bring me over Ruelfore then
Someone would push me right out then
And then there suddenly appeared before me
A bunch of noobs who flew to town!
I heard somebody who yelled "Spit Six-teen!"
And when I looked, the ho-tard augered into the ground!
New Goon, Now I'm floating alone
No other troops next to me
No other hope to behold
And then there suddently appeared before me
Another Goon to help with the town
I head somebody yell out "Drop them near me"
And when I looked, a box of supplies fell right out!
New Goon, I can't take this abuse
Without a hair on my head
They are all so obtuse!

Nah. HTC has been doing very good, but having them add the He111 is going too far. ;)
I'll bet the Soviet Pe-2 arrived first.

Updated KI-67 :aok

They allowed me to skin a Japanese L2D2 on the old C-47, so I can't see why it wouldn't be allowed on the new one. I plan to do one when I get time, plus replacements for the Soviet, RAF and USN goon skins I did for the old shape. Even if they take a while to get in the MA, they will be needed for special events.

And some pretty explosive "bananas" at that. ;)

Yea great. Just wonder if a really new fighter plane will ever add to the game.

Just an FYI: the 37mm's from the Yak9T and P39D/Q fire AP rounds. All four 37mm's in the game (M8 Greyhound, Il-2, Yak9T, and P39D/Q do the same 17.1 damage to soft objects (ord, fuel, barracks, radar, hangers, etc). If anyt of them were HE rounds it could be logically assumed that the damage would be higher. Vs armored targets the Soviet 37mm has a slight advantage over the US 37mm due to velocity, but actual in came armor penetration capability is not known (except for the M8 greyhound). Sorry for the hijack.
FWIW, I hope to see a whole gaggle of new skins coming our way in the next patch. I know Greebo, Fencer, and others have made some very nice skins and were submitted some time ago (2 updates ago). I hope they get approved and released in the next update!!! Also, with the new M3 and C47, I just may try and get back into skinning, I have lots to learn though! I vote for the Greebo's "267th Sqd RAF" to be the first C47 skin to be re-released!!! :aok
-
Yea great. Just wonder if a really new fighter plane will ever add to the game.
um.... did you see the new A6M variant being added??? The A6m3 is new to AH. The A6m2 and A6m5 both got a re-model yes, but the A6m3 is very new and will be a very different beast.

I don't think that's true at all. You're ignoring the fact that damage vs ground objects is nowhere near the level of detail as damage vs planes and other vehicles. This was noted even many years back when the "rounds to kill a hangar" was first introduced as a testing measure.
What you claim is tantamount to saying all the 20mm in the game are the same. Given the evidence so far, HTC doesn't work that way.
EDIT: This page:
http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/guns/guns.htm
While outdated (not including P-39 guns or IL2's AP loadout) blows your argument out of the water, showing widely different values for the ostwing 37mm HE, the NS37, and the M8's 37mm gun.
EDIT2: heavy caliber AP rounds against fighter planes was not the norm. The heavy round's strength is the explosive content, not the punch-a-bloody-big-hole content. AP would be a waste of a round against another plane in the 37mm size.

I'm not going to get in a argument this thread, but the fact remains that all for of the rounds I mentioned do the same exact amount of damage to an OBJ (vs aircraft and gv's are a different story). The M8 greyhound's AP round and the 3 from the aircraft all do exactly the same, I doubt that in AH the HE and HP shells would do the exact same damage. I just read 2 different sources and both pointed to the Yak-9T (I did not verify the Il-2, but that should be obvious) and P39x using AP rounds. They use 2 different cannons with the Soviet NS37 37mm producing about %22 more velocity than the US M4 37mm. I said nothing about the 20mm rounds, those are quite diverse actually with the best being the Hispano Mk II/M2 (4.03) and the worst being the German MG-FF (3.25) for damages to OBJ. Start a new thread and we can discuss it there. :aok
-
AP rounds for the Yak were so rare they were almost never used. They were never used on the P-39s either. I'm not picking a fight either, you're just drawing the wrong conclusions. You are assuming the larger anti-tank gun round holds the same amount of explosive so the smaller plane-based rounds must also be AP. In fact, it's quite possible that the larger AP round on the tank still holds as much HE content as the HE rounds on fighter aircraft.
HTC does model different rounds. It's one thing they do well. These guns are not the same. No argument, no debate, no "new thread" needed.

He is correct on certain things that most people wont argue about. His fault is that he answers questions that no one asked and also speaks and mis-quotes/assumes for people. ;)

As did the L2D2 version, but we aren't getting those. They'll likely allow skins for them, but they will still be unarmed C-47s.

Just an FYI, the only aircraft in game that fires a 37mm AP round is the IL-2. All the others are firing HE. I'm not sure whether they swapped them out IRL, but that's what we get.
There was a big thread on this in the Aircraft and Vehicles forum a while back.
Sweet Goon.

I know, I jumped the gun with the terminology I used, my bad. The ironic thing is that it wasn't but just a few days ago I was verifying damages on a whole bag a weapons and tested the 37mm. I still find it odd that the HE from the P39x and Yak-9T do the exact same damage vs an OBJ as the AP from the Il-2 and AP from the M8. I would hope that HTC would review the 37mm damage values real soon just as they did the British 3in/60lb rockets, the German 28cm Wurfkörper rockets, and the US 4.5in rockets. The damage value for the 37mm just does not seem linear at all, ESPECIALLY since the Il-2 and the Yak-9T are armed with the exact same cannon but yet firing completely different rounds. All 4 of the 37mm should in theory have different damage values, just look at what HTC did with the 20mm aircraft cannons. The small minuscule differences were accurately modeled.
37mm vs OBJ:
P39x: HE/17.1
Yak9T: HE/17.1
Il-2: AP/17.1
M8: AP/17.1 and HE/31
SORRY FOR THE 2nd HIJACK! :frown:
