This could be posted in the Offline Mission section I reckon, but I'm not having a problem with the mission, as of yet.
I need some Turn & Burn pilots to give me a little advice here. Looking for a plane that has outstanding acceleration.
This is imperative to the whole scenario. I've researched until my eyes are blue. Just not finding what I'm looking for. Right now I'm going with a Niki, just for the
sole power of this machine. I've tried different variations of planes ie; some 109's, Brewster, FM2, some Spitty's.
It will need to be able to turn of course, but I think the acceleration. will be key to success in this one.
Thanks for any help.
I just don't want to ruin a good sortie, because of a poor choice I've made in my plane.

Off hand I can't think of anything because it's such an open ended question to what might be fairly specific conditions - in this mission you're talking about. But you could get the acceleration part of this question settled if you ran the plane set thru e.g. DokGonzo's comparison charts. It has most acceleration figures, for most planes (not sure about the latest additions).

Low & Slow will be the engagement. All on the deck. I just want to give a little advantage to the person who has to fight 22 cons on their own, with no help.

You mean in an offline mission against 22 AI planes? I've never fought the AI so I have no clue what kind of dogfighting that makes for.. IE what kind of envelope is optimal.
The following's total guess, so take it with a grain of salt but.. If we assume players with skill level low enough that 22 of em are even against 1 human.. I'd say the planes that'd do best could be..
Easy picks: N1K, Hurri IIc
Agile enough but low ammo: Spit V/VIII/IX/XVI, Ki84, F4U4, F6F... 109F, 109G2, and La7 are probably not agile enough to make up for their lack of ammo.. It'll depend on just what model the cons are.
Not agile enough but plenty ammo/firepower: 110G2 with light guns, Mossie.. P-38? A20?
The 109K and Ki61 IIRC are short on both ammo and agility, but could be fun survival challenge against so many cons. And all of this (except for N1K and Hurri IIc) depends a lot on what the cons are.

The 22 cons will form to make one giant ring and the engagement takes place at the center of the ring, with only two cons
attacking at one time. Not the whole assortment at one.
Here's the planes I've chosen for the AI.
C-205
Spitfire Mk VIII
Ki-84-la
F4U-4
F6F5
P38-J
So far it appears that the N1K2-J is doing a pretty good job.
Thanks moot.

With that amount of planes versus just 1 plane ... it has to be a "cannon" plane for sure ... and from what you have seen, the N1K is really the only plane that has the right amount of cannon ammo to kill all those planes and can also hang with all those planes in a protracted fight.

Somehow forgot about Chog above.

For acceleration:
109k4
La7
