It would be great to have an option to remove the hit-sprites!
-
why would you want to do that?

Hitsprites are the only true indication of if you have hit your target. So please elaborate why you want to remove them.

You'd know you hit when they start spitting out black smoke!
I like it +1

Watch WWII guncam footage when bullets hit another aircraft it looks almost exactly like what we have in AH.

Bad Idea...sorry. There are certain Features and benefits in having them. Plus, as stated above, they are realistic.
It's great you are coming up with a suggestion, let's see if you have a valid reason or justification of "Why" does it make gameplay better or more realistic. We aren't interested in arcade games or trying to "game" the game.

NO Hit sprites are the reward.
-
The hit sprites look fine in video, but they're ugly in screenshots.
-
We don't need removal of hit sprites, we need the graphic on the hit sprites updated.
-
The OP is requesting an option. How is that a bad idea? It's not like he's asking for hit sprites to be eliminated for everybody.

the question remains, what would be the gain? you can disable tracers and some weapons effects...hit sprites are an indicator, much like the gauges in the cockpit...so what could be gained by turning them off?

there will always be some visual proof of bullet strikes.
Does this visual proof look like the hit sprites we currently have? The evidence provided from actual gun camera footage from American, British and German aircraft does tend to show small explosive flashes, puffs of smoke and small bits of debris being thrown from the aircraft, so with that in mind I think our current non optional hit effects are satisfactory.
You know I think having an option to turn off hit sprites is vaguely interesting. Would we also have an option to turn off debris? What about optional smoke? why would we want this? why wouldn't we?
I don't know. Before reading this thread I had never thought about this possibility. I think after I have navigated away from this thread I will never think about it again.
But it is always good to consider new things.

Nein! The OP must march in lockstep... or be beaten severely. He might end up enjoying himself with hit sprites off. That is verboten.

Yep, his 17 posts since 2005 compared to your 1117 since 2009.
Wishing in the wishlist thread? Blasphemy!

Yeah, but it's 1117 pure originals... and an 1118th to deny the allegation.
