Sometimes, being on the other side of things, can widen your perspective. Well, I am one of those loud mouth :x players that is always crying about someone in a 5 inch gun rather than a plane coming out to do battle. Then last night (early morning) I found a fleet sitting of the coast of an enemy airfield with some pretty good action (at first).
The first sortee was a blast, and the first time that I have flown the updated Zeke. My head was spinning like I was possessed, dodging La7s, Brewters, Hurri 2Cs and Spit 16s to name a few. Time2Die got in a nice glancing blow and I lost my wing. But by the time I lifted for my second sortee, the defenders rolled off the field in one huge mass. It was me and maybe 3 other pilots and I counted at least a dozen enemy launching. Considering the numbers and types of aircraft I was facing I circled back to my fleet to grab alt in the hopes that most wouldn't readily climb into our fleets puffy ack. I was correct and I was able to gain a comfortable altitude advantage.
Still the numbers were so great, I could only make short runs into the red swarm without picking up more than 4 or 5 on my 6. So, I darted in and out of puffy ack and watched as one by one the 4 or 5 who had been :uhoh so intent on smashing my cartoon plane into the sea, were eaten alive by the Ack Puffy Monster :lol
Finally, the skipper of our fleet mis calculated the arrival of the enemy fleet and we were not able to stand the guns of the enemy Armada.
:salute Knight defenders of A17. I must say that I have not had so many laughs in the game in quite some time. Please forgive my indulgence into Ack Draggin Dweebery (ADD) for one evening. You fellas were much better sports about it than I would have been.

More than 5 enemy on your six justifies ack dragging.
Unless, of course, Vilkas is in the 5" gun. Then I'll drag to give him some action. Then it's curtains :D

I love Vilkas' comments while he is gunning. :lol I miss you Walt.
It had gotten to the point that I wouldn't even look at my rear view. I couldn't make sense of the icons, they were all jumbled together. At first :devil

You would be amazed how good a player can get judging ack distance. I often wait until they are just a tad away from ack and chop, off comes their head before they can get back in.

if they are all on your 6 reverse them all, and if you can shoot good, set up a shot, reverse again.....I've had days(not often because I lack that "Shoot good" thinga majig) that I've fought over 15 guys doing just that, and killed 6 or 7 of them, trust me you will be way more pumped to do that then "drag em to ack" something I NEVER do.

I guess my mojo is too weak. I rarely survive 2 or 3 on 1. I know the guys that are very good at just that though, it has a lot more than just shoot good thing a majig. Also, they were packed so tightly on my 6, I probably got a kill or two from kill shots on each other. I really had no room to maneuver a mix of good turners, good cannons, and good accelerating and climbing planes, I just didn't have a reversal move in mind :rofl But mostly (which is what this thread is about) I was just too busy laughing as the gunner dudes were so accurate in my favor for a change.
This was an enjoyable experience, to my surprise, I usually feel badly when I pull a HO shot or drag to ack for lack of ability. Instead, in this case, I was almost mimicking Simpson's Quickie Mart Owner, Habu..... "Thank you come again...." Maybe now I will be less critical of others doing the same.
Possibly read this and have experienced this too, but not very often: Friendly puffy ack kills. The risk of flying in one's own ack would balance the risk of facing multiple fighters.

I am far from "uber", but I still try to fight it out no matter what....I am not trying to be a salamander I know sometimes I may sound like that, but truly until you fight "no matter what" you wont progress fighting multi cons, if you run when the numbers get uneven, you will never get to the point of being able to fight uneven odds.
again Im not being sarcastic or facetious, just trying to show why it is a good thing when you fight multi cons, and considering the MA's and the major hourds....its a good thing to be able to fight multi cons :salute

About 3 or 4 weeks back I upped a base that hand nearly 2 full dars of cons. I only saw a few and figure the rest were really high or otw. Then the radar came on and all the cons were not only hiding in the cv ack they were on the opposite side of the cv as the base they were allegedly attacking. :rofl :rofl

Sometimes it's fun to watch an 80 year old man pwn everyone, though :devil

For sure.
- oldman (wonder why they did that?)

I love to ack drag. Just love it. There are so many ways to kill in the game. I love them all.
I especially love to drag to fleet ack or hidden wirbs/ostis covering a deacked town or field.
Relish the many death traps! Use them.

If you are flying around in Late War with mojo quad 20mm uber rides flinging pell mell all over the place then dont feel bad at all. There is very little room (no room really) to make any mistakes in that scenario. AH can be very unforgiving, at the same time, if your flying around with uber cannon then absolute success is just a fleeting snapshot away.

JUGgler
I wholeheartedly agree with the first part Juggler. It's the last part that sounds kind of whiney... ;)
