I guess it will still be around as the older guys will still be mostly around and maybe there will be a cure for ageing. There are also allot of under 18's which given how historical this is kind of beggagrs belief. What will the technology be like though :x
Hopefully a Track IR goggle screen but not too close a simulation of real combat especially for example when you catch fire :D
What else do you think will have been added?

A private bathroom for Skuzzy :devil

By then, I hope we have another 80 aircraft that saw combat/service from 1938 to 1945. Another 30-40 gv's would be nice, too. :D
More large maps! Snow maps! Desert maps! Plains maps w/ few trees!
-
I'm guessing total virtual simulation....

It's already here. Sadly, consumer grade ones are in the 800x600 resolution or less range. Unfortunately to get an HMD with decent-ish resolution you need to go to something like this:
http://www.cybermindnl.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=50&category_id=11&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1 (http://www.cybermindnl.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=50&category_id=11&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1)
Bring your wallet. A steal at a mere $11,000 or so...
Hopefully in 10 years the price will have come down, but it hasn't budged much in the 5 years or so I've been watching this sort of thing.
However... when that winning lottery ticket comes through... :D

Will this game be alive in 2020? Even tho i hope, i dont think so. 10 years is a LOT for an already 12 years old game. Will need to release some totally new graphical packages, and thats really hard for such a small developement team. The current graphics are seriously outdated (the ground and the older planes) while the physical engine is real nice.

I think such things hit a critical cost which means a possible mass market then mass production then given away with cereal packets like pocket clalculators.

I think HMDs are facing a bit more of an uphill climb as it's such an incredibly niche market. Really, HMDs only have large appeal to people who have a need to move their head around ingame independently of the rest of whatever it is they're doing. Flight sims and racing sims gain by far the most benefit from being able to look around without changing your orientation in game.
I've seen a couple youtube videos of ArmA that were using TrackIR, and while somewhat cool in an FPS, it's not a gigantic advantage over just using mouse control to look around.
Couple that with the fact that people are so immersed in and used to high resolution displays, anything less looks positively asstacular in comparison.
I think in 10 years the main things will be 3D will be pretty much ubiquitous and controllers will be a lot more precise than they are currently.

in 10 years... your onboard video card will be more then obsolete. youll need to drop 2 or 300 on a video card to run bare minimum graphics. my thoughts, but I know from expierence an onboard card in the game right now doesnt cut it real well. everything turned down, short vis mode, its a struggle.

no doubt about it. but im saying the cards of 10 years from now..if that makes sense.

Many more skins with much more frequent updates and rotations.

Keep in mind that software progresses with hardware... your current onboard chip won't run AH in 10 years, but a computer from 10 years from now certainly will... A card that will run it on full settings then won't cost any more than a card that runs the current version on full settings does now (what, like $150?)
Looking back, there's probably nothing from today that will be able to run the game 10 years in the future.

your right. fergot about correlation between hardware /software compatibility.

I like how that HMD ad says "affordable" :rofl

Treading dangerously close to the political precipace, one wonders where people's priorities will be in 10 years. Game or gas? Computer hardware, or roof overhead?

and depeding o nthe economy could be even more in our mind now. I doubt we'll have a better, more stable economy in 10 years...but theres a possibility.

When I was about 10 one of the burning questions was how we were all going to copw when the oil ran out in 20 years time which was 38 years ago.
(Ok brown nose on but) You Americans probably have one of the most dynamic innovative societies in history and sure if you all bury your heads in the sand we will see cumulative decline but of coruse you won't do that.

Ten years from now I'll be playing the game wearing a diaper and an oxygen tank strapped to my face. But if I can get just one more kill it'll be worth it.

Will this game be around in 10 years?

If it won't, another will.

Yep :old:

This thread is getting depressing......... :ahand

Here's a positive then - maybe custom skins will be treated the same as soundpacks - people can create develop and create their own skins, like now, but without necessary involvement of HTC. Skinners will be free to create custom skin packs, somebody will webhost them and you can go download whichever skin pack you like. I foresee special packs being created for each scenario, for Axis and Allies arena maps, etc.
We'd have a lot more high quality skins and people would be free to rotate them in and out of game on their own. HTC would lose the headache of skin management and people complaining about how long it takes between skin releases, why are the still crappy skins that haven't been rotated out, etc.
It'd be cool that everybody in a squad could have the same general markings on the base model plane, but with personalized nose art and ID letters, etc.
As long as the other squad members installed the same skins, everybody in the squad would see each other in their personalized A/C.
It could happen...

I guess weŽll still have B-29's instead of He-111's...

At the rate it is going, the game will be incredible! The gameplay on the other hand will be insufferable :old:

I give this SIM another 2yrs and it will be dead..It will never last another 10yrs..Peolpe like new stuff other than planes we have enough as it is..HTC is shooting themselves in the foot by not thinking outside the BOX..

this is true. They could add a new arena for Korea or something..but that would require adding MANY more planes, and programming. and a new arena. Could they do it? yes. will it be immediate...in no way. Ive seen some threads in the wishlist and the thought of it was vulched. Maybe adding a ne arena with a differnt plane set (I know, we have the WWI arena. but here arent many planes, nor players. monotnous (sp)) could be good.
I dont mean to hijack the thread. Sorry!

I think in a decade we will be sitting around a fire in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, eating a wild hog someone killed with a rock tied to the end of a stick, and talking about how great computers and the internet were.

In all seriousness though, AHII holds the high ground in games of the niche. This is obviously a passion for Dale and crew, not something motivated by looking at profit reports, and they currently control their own destinies instead of being at the whim of some corporation like alot of game developers. I see no reason why Aces High cannot be the dominant multi-player flight sim in a decade.
As for "eye-candy"-Sorry guys, Il2 and the like is just not to my yet vastly superior, if any superior, to AHII in that regard.

Will the game be like Rambo 25..... hey yo.... help me find my glasses so I can see where did I put my teeth!!
:rofl
