Title: Calibration Errors

Anyone know of a reference for the various amounts of calibration error in the plane set?  Looking to determine calibrated air speeds for some of the aircraft.  I know the F6F has a bit, but I am looking for a reference to find as many as I can.  Or, conversely, is there a way to test for calibration errors?

The Spitfire MkXIV under-reads in AH2 by 10MPH on the ASI below 200MPH. Dont know above that.

Historically, the early models under-read by around 7 under 10K.

do you mean RL variance? if so the pilots notes will probably have them, according to the typhie PN the altimeter reading was just a stab in the dark :D

or the difference between guages and E6B in AH? I know some seem way off (262 springs to mind), could just be parallax error tho ...  :headscratch:

Stoney, I don't remember the formula for it but you can do that on an E6B. This will convert TAS to CAS for you: http://www.luizmonteiro.com/Altimetry.aspx (http://www.luizmonteiro.com/Altimetry.aspx), if you want to convert CAS to IAS than you would need the POH for that airplane. Since the E6B in AH gives you the IAS and TAS you can use that to find out CAS and that will give you the different between IAS and CAS for each airplane at each speed.

Regarding what SouthLanda said about the spit14, that is a bug. Because the airspeed indicator reads the different speed than what is shown in the E6B for IAS.
