The Kawasaki Ki-100 was a fighter aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Army in World War II. The Japanese Army designation was "Type 5 Fighter". No Allied code name was assigned to this type, although it may have been misidentified as a Tony due to the similar profile and appearance.
An overall assessment of the effectiveness of the Ki-100 rated it highly in agility and a well-handled Ki-100 was able to out-manoeuvre any American fighter including the formidable P-51D Mustangs and the P-47N Thunderbolts which were escorting the B-29 raids over Japan by that time, and was comparable in speed especially at medium altitudes. In the hands of an experienced pilot, the Ki-100 was a deadly opponent and together with the Army's Ki-84 and the Navy's Kawanishi N1K-J, the only other Japanese fighters being able to defeat the latest Allied types.

flown the ki-84 this tour for the first time - thats a great aircraft :aok
how many ki-100s made? service? and a pic of the ki-100 pls!
(you have to pitch like an ad exec round here ;))
edit: cowl 20mms and wing .50cals?

I would very much rather see the Ki-43, Ki-44 or J2M3/J2M5.
That said, the Ki-100 could be added easier as it would use much of the same geometry as the Ki-61.

That's how it is on the Ki-61 too. I think they may have reversed it in the Ki-100, but there's also talk they only loaded half the ammo and only took the 20mm for the thin air up where they had to fly to hunt B-29s and the like.

Only assuming they remodel the Ki-61 first :D The current 3D model couldn't be reused for anything I'm afraid.

Of course, if the Ki-100 were to be added I would assume it would be at the time, or shortly after, that the Ki-61 were remodeled.

go KI43

Weapon arrangement depended on what model of the Ki-61. The Ki-61-I-Hei had an imported MG151/20 cannon in each wing and cowl 12.7mm machine guns.

Ki-100 had the Ho-5 20mm cannons on the cowl which the Ki-61 in AH has. Ki-100 however had almost twice the ammo that the Ki-61 has.

I think the Ki-100 would be a great addition for the Japanese plane set. Would be awesome to see.
But I would still agree that on my list anyways, I would want to see the Ki-43/44, Ki-45/102 and the J2M3 and J2M5 probably first.
But I wouldn't complain a bit if the K1-100 came out first :lol
