Title: EPL Football/Soccer
Post by: kilo2 on April 23, 2011, 08:56:34 AM
Any of you watch? I have become addicted have to watch at weird hours and search for games but man is it exciting.

Just don't know who to root for. Only thing for sure is I do not like Manchester United.

Best team in the world is Bayern Munich. Accept no substitutes, and all hail Schweinsteiger.

My sisters boyfriend played pro soccer for a few years. Here in the US and Europe.  He doesn't even talk about it now, but he's a hell of a BMX coach.  I try and watch it, but it puts me to sleep like golf.

Oh they are good no denying that. They remind me of the Patriots or the Yankees great teams but I get tired of hearing about them every 10 seconds.

So far the three I like the most would be Bolton, Tottenham, or Everton

personally i'd rather watch EPL or any (true) football, no commercials, good amount of action.
Tottenham or Everton are good teams, i root for Newcastle who took 2pts away from MAN U :devil last tuesday.

I watch at least 2 games everyday, i played travel soccer for 12 years and i currently coach a U10 travel team from Chesapeake United with my father (I am 16 years old). I can tell you that the best team that actually play soccer the right way is Bayern Munich and Liverpool. They are just amazing at how they move the ball across the pitch.

Every Saturday morning. Two very good games today. Then the Italians come on.

Not EPL but SPL:

ah the GOONERS  :neener: the game against Spurs on 4/20 was a great match, the goal by Huddlestone was amazing.

Thats was a great game. I was surprised it looked like Arsenal had it and then right before half time was that great goal, made it look easy.

Off subject but did anyone watch  "United"  last night?

I thought David Tennant played his part very well.

Now I have been understanding the mindset of Sir Alex Ferguson much more recently but there is only one team for me!!

2008 FA cup winners,
2011   relegated to championship, Bankrupt, HMRC trying to kill the club entirely,   (Thanks Harry, greedy chairman and players!)
2013?      who knows?    this is what football is about UPs and  DOWNs and we wouldn't have it any other way.

I remember watching us leading AC Milan at Fratton park 2-1 in an UEFA cup tie.  Then laughing boy Ronaldinho comes on late, cons the referee into a free kick (it was never a foul  :old:)  and he puts it in the top corner.   :)

My first match as a kid was watching leyton Orient (2 leagues below) knocking us out of a cup competition.

thats funny because whenever I overhear the glory-hunter "football fans" talking about their top 4 team (who theyve probably only seen play a couple of times ever, in hospitality), I'm instantly reminded of standing in the pi$$ing rain in december with about 30 other away fans at somewhere like Orient or Brentford  :lol

edit: I should probably declare my interests here :)

I actually don't know anyone personally that is interested in soccer past the point of the kids at the YMCA. There must be some as it is on TV every once in awhile. Of course that is usually the spanish stations for the illegals here.

Funny thing kind of relating. I never was much on hockey. I found out after my daughter's first boyfriend passed that he was a huge hockey fan. Now I find myself watching hockey sometimes and wishing the kid was still around. He was a good kid and I sure would have taken him to some games and maybe learned more about the teams playing.

I played soccer from age 3-16.   I still play games with friends and one league.

Champions League

ManU sure put it to Schalke. Should be a great game tomorrow > Real Madrid vs Barcelona.

should be.   Lets hope Mourinho doesn't kill it and they play like they mean it.   I always find first legs to be tactical battles.

Will probably end up the most exciting tense 0-0 in the history of football  ;)

There was some footage of some team that won a trophy. As the celebration was going on the guy, a player, holding the trophy dropped it. He was on the upper open part of a dbl decker bus. The trophy tumbled to the ground and the very slow moving bus ran right over it and crushed it.

My only thought on that happening...... who's idea was it to let a soccer player hold the trophy. They never use their hands. :)

Pete Weber was probably saying the same thing.

That video was on CNN about a week back. Some championship. The player was some big name from the team. You know he had to feel really bad about what happened.

Ahh here is the guy that dropped it....

Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos lets a hard-won trophy fall. It then gets trapped under one of the wheels

Not only soccer players drop trophies.    Chris Chelios and a host of others have dented, dropped The Stanley Cup.

It being ran over by the bus was the funniest part.

:aok  Fantastic sport! I've been a Spurs supporter for about 3 years now. I'll be watching the Spurs/Man City game on Fox Soccer later this afternoon.
