Saw Skipp Walther lose his rudder at around 180 in miami a couple of days after Jim McCormick got pitched and almost cut off his legs.
Jim Caviezel starred in the movie "madison" which loosely paralleled that season.
I was a pit rat at miami marine stadium as kid.
A nailbiter from that season....

That growl is a merlin.

Most were Allisons but budweiser used turbocharged griffons later on because boats were hard on the supercharger drive systems causing them to break.
Apparently the guy who hoarded all the merlins postwar would not sell them to boat racers so they had to settle for allison or griffons.
Holset miss madison also used turbos...........holset turbos.

Good to know Icepack. They sound great. When i was kid, boats and tractor pull guys used them. Then I heard they where running out of them, and started to switch to turbines then.
