I was wondering if allowing ammo aboard bombers to be moved from one gun position to another? I always seem to run out of the tail gun ammo first with little or no ammo used in the front guns. I'm not talking about a manual thing, but could be optional.

someone asked the same thing a few months back...i believe it got shot down...use short bursts and don't fire until the target is under 1k away...

That goes along with a damaged gun as well. You could move an undamaged gun from it's mount but it might be time consuming in real life...making it hard to simulate here. Depending on the damaged gun's mount, it might not be possible either. Good Idea though.

I'm pretty sure the replaceable guns would most likely only be the side guns being as those are the only easily accessible ones. Might be wrong... :headscratch:

I believe the general response was than in RL it was hard to nearly impossible to move ammo from one place to another. I dont think they used ammo belts like you see in the movies. In some bombers to get to the tail section they had to crawl thru a very narrow pasage and it would be time consuming. not sure if you have ever seen a bomber like the b17 up close, they are actually small.

regardless it could be done if the ammo is put in there it can come out the question is time, but I would like this looked at could be a good idea.
Of course once everything is taken care of.

you might want to take a closer look at how the ammo was loaded in gun positions before you go thinking ammunition was moved from one gun position to another except in very rare instances when a "hero" did something uncommon...there were no portable ammunition cannisters onboard...and the way the ammo fed into the weapons wasn't conducive to mid air swapouts by gun crews, especially in the tail and ball turrets.

I got ya but the thing is It can be done....maybe not often maybe not until the last option. but it can be done. its just difficult.
edit: so as I was thinkin had this crazy idea you could reload empty guns but lets say you have 200 rounds in your tail gun and 2 in your left waist gun.
open the action on your waist gun and left the ammo loose then run it out of that box, now take that ammo and link it to the last round on both belts runnin to the separate tail guns and boom you got ammo. take time? yes. need to people? maybe. be a pain? sure. save you last drone on a long run all the way home?...........just might. and the funny thing I barely ever fly bombers too.
now I think the ball would be too difficult to load in the air but the other guns have enough room to get to em thus they ina pinch could get more ammo.
now as for empty guns that would take more time but I would say take the feed tube off the gun and push the belted ammo thru till the end then feed it into your gun and place the feed tube back on.
OR just let the ammo hang outside the gun unless you've got a lot of holes in your rig other than that shouldn't cause too many issues. but its you runnin around in the bomber not me.

A few years ago this request of moving ammo was raised and I listed 3 or 4 quotes taken from online battle accounts of ETO gunners taking ammo to other gunners in the top, side and aft guns. The BBS Search is not working for me so I can't provide them at the moment. Doubt if the option will be implemented anytime soon, if ever.

I like the idea and I think that these guys whose primary ride is the buff would like the option. as they are in the air for long periods, and sometimes with lots of folks to deal with.
