Okay, a new update. Logged on 22.00 euro time. Found out stick mapping was gone. Remapped; lost remapping 4 times. Remapped again. Got it right. Views gone, views flashing all over the place. The trustfull F12 dont work anymore. After 3 hours I gave up. I cant fly like this. Not to mention the GV-thing. Totally UN-understandable.
Please please please, fix it
Still dizzy

this plus give us back the skins...
-
aside from the minor controller mapping bug...what don't you understand about the new tank controls?
there was a very nice video and subsequent long discussion about it not too long ago...keyboard control now...mouse to look around/move turret
-
I have to remap everytime i switch from gv to flight. Tired of remapping tonight. :headscratch:
-
I installed the update and Hi-res pack. No problems other than the "run as administrator" fix. Stick mapping and views are fine. Did you not save your settings file before updating?
The new GV modeling is awesome IMO. The higher perked tanks will finally be worth the cost!

No problems?
a6m3 is a fail, there is a bug with the mouse-control, no skins, various graphics bugs

That doesn't help when the settings are getting erased constantly ;)
No problems other than the "run as administrator" fix.
- no aileron control in the A6M below 180 mph (minor bug, will get fixed very quickly)
- all analog axis settings are getting erased again and again
- can't shut off mouse control in tanks, the new mouse control feature isn't really fully developed yet (to put it mildly ;) )
- can't use mouse on pop up screens without having to bring up clipboard
- new gunsights in tanks as well as the ability to pivot are big step forward, but the rest of the new GV system (mouse view control from commander position, getting rid of driver position / interior graphics) is just crap.

the crying in game about the gv's is priceless.. I came here specifially to read more. :)

Heya Lusche, can you go into more detail why you think it's crap?
I just GV'ed for the last 30 minutes and it's the most fun I've EVER had in a GV. The new mouse control feature, after mapping the controls, was accurate/smooth and intuitive (in my opinion). The different tanks having different zoom levels, and using the mouse wheel to "range find" in the Panzer was also very entertaining. The part I enjoyed the most was the fact that I was able to be MOBILE while in the midst of a battle, changing speeds, angles, directions, using commander view to find an enemy, hitting F2 to get into "gunner's mode", scroll wheel to range find, and fire. All at the same time. It was a huge improvement in fun (again, my opinion) to what my normal GV experience was, which tended to be drive to spawn (offensive or defensive), find hiding spot, set gun view to max zoom... look for enemy and fire. Not looking down on your opinion, just genuinely curious as to what about the old system you found preferrential and why. =)

In part I did that already in that line. Removal of the driver position, and interior graphics. Basically going more towards the "gamey" way. I DO like the new sights, but now it feels more like driving a modern main battle tank with "commander override" to me. Reminds me very much of games like WoT. And it's extremely annoying I can't shut off the mouse control.
Another minor thing: The automatic transmission has some trouble on slopes, constantly switching up and down between gears, accelerating, then unnecessarily gearing up, coming almost to a halt and so on ;)

Just goes to show how well I understand things. I never thought you were referring to that as a problem, just a change. I never paid attention to the interior. Dumb on me =)

I can understand that. I do think the control change may have been partially... let's just say... inspired by WoT =)

It'd be nice to be able to change it in the future, i.e. allow to remap what is currently WASD and the mouse to other things... like for instance, WS = Throttle up/down, AD = Rudder, Joystick = mouse... or something similar? Almost everything else in game is pretty configurable.

Reminds me of an old car I once had ;-)
Thanks for answerin! :aok

My joystick is screwed to the table screw using the keyboard!

This seems like the most obvious solution, I would've thought it'd be like that from the start.

GV control is Fantastic
-
Yea gv controls are fine for me, just those bugs... lotsa-lotsa bugs...
-
the new tank sights are worth any number of whines.
I don't touch my mouse while gv'ing..so that view system is not an issue. It pretty much functions as it did. All these people saying they drove from pintle gun anyway with their rudder pedals.. what's the difference?
Lusche, I really don't get the interior graphics bit.. who cares? how often were you inside the drivers compartment? I for one, always had my views set up so I was up out of it with a clear view anyway.

I wouldn't go with "who cares"... obviously Lusche does, or he wouldn't have mentioned it ;)
He's not the only one who does either by my guess.

yea but I doubt even mr. snail drove from inside drivers compartment looking thru the slit.

well said <S>

I don't have any issuse with the new update. Tank sights are the shizzle dang every nooob will be able to shoot now. Easy mode if you ask me
-
Shore battery is an effing nightmare, despite all suggestions, range finder and actual GUN won't point same direction, had to physically hit power button to close game, got in endless loop. Not sure how losing the ability to steer a tracked vehicle with pedals is an upgrade
-
good golly you had to go a wreck it for me no more pedals .. hmmmmm did not try to remap was having to much fun with the sights. ahhh booooooooo// ill go look right now

i tend to think the previous way was more easy mode.. every tank with it's effectively infinite zoom, same sight in every tank -- no learning different sights.

Quite often. Oh, of course I was using mainly the hatch view when driving, but I had another view mapped so I could read the instruments as well: Gear indicator, artifical horizon, revs, speed and so on. Yes, I did actually use those things every sortie :)
I also did use the bow gunner position. In rather desperate, outnumbered defense situations would occasionally position my Tiger so that the bow MG was pointing at the maproom. In case a M3 flanked me and let troops out, I could quickly hop to that position and kill them without having to turn my turret around. This ain't possible anymore as the hull MG now is linked to the turret.

I love the new GV system. The sites are just the icing on the cake.
The only real "bugs" I've come across are the dust/smoke timers (during take off), and the new A6M.
I guess I'm lucky, because I'm not having ANY of the issues regarding axis mapping that others are reporting. Everything was just the way I had it before the update. All I needed to do was recalibrate the axes.
-

I was wondering about that too. How about going downhill and trying to down shift to the correct gear. I think that there should be an option that sets shifting to "auto" or "manual".
In manual, each hit of the "W" will shift up a gear and each hit of "S" down shifts a gear ... like "W" and "Q" use to do.

This caused me to log in frustration.

I loaded it and did NOT save map files. Ran as admin was needed. Everything else worked fine except the key comands that were changed with the new set up. F12 is no longer Tracker Center. That key command is now ctl F4. I re-mapped that hat switch and that was the only change I had to make. I didn't have any skins loaded because I had re-installed that game about a month or so ago an never reloaded the skins.
Tank controls were fine. looke dcool. Worked as advertised, but I thought I was going to be able to look around using my Track IR from the commander position and I can only look around using the joystick [mouse control de-selected] in which the gun follows. Someone posted that I could do that from a different position but that seems like a work around. Pyro mensioned that the gun control and the view system were seperate, implying we could do both.
I assume I'm not doing something right, but I haven't played with it that much. If someone with a track IR has figured it out, maybe you can post. :salute

My main problem is my Jstick gets unmapped and sometimes is unmapable without going offline. This happens if I use a GV. Has something to do with usb they are working on it but were unaware of it before complaints. Its happened to more than just me, if "RADIO" rings a bell you know what I mean. I would have been happy to beta test it. I would have liked it if you could use your old GV setup I was just learning it and I liked steering with my feet and switching gears. It would be nice if the sights had a vertical line. I'm assuming that the constant references to WOT had a large influence on the redesign which is fine if you like that kinda thing, I figure you could just go play WOT if you did, this new version looks sportier but I kinda enjoyed the panic and blinkered awkwardness of the old system. Can anybody tell me where the video on the new GVs is?

ok that is valid (just testing it out), but I dont think it requires internal positions.. just when ya swing cmdr's view around, the gun that is available to cover that area, should be able to fire before the turret rotates around. (hull mg should be able to fire before the coax mg comes around), :aok
(I've also agreed we should still have a speedometer of some sort)

I can't drive..... 55

It doesn't. The primary weapon is the turret MG, so the hull MG doesn't fire until the turret has rotated around (which I actually do not want to anyway, I want to keep the turret keep pointing towards the enemy tanks)
