Title: Skins gone and stick mapping after update.
Post by: sarge201 on April 25, 2011, 06:57:58 PM: Had to download the update to fly online, all of my skins are gone and my stick settings are also gone?????

Had to run the new version as ADMIN under Win 7. but why wont my stick mappings stay and where are all the skins I have downloaded?

Yes I also have the new HighRes Tex pack??????

Post by: ImADot on April 25, 2011, 07:02:56 PM: Not sure if it is or not, or if it'll help or not, but check your folder permissions to see if it (or any subfolders) are marked as "read only".

Post by: ImADot on April 25, 2011, 07:16:19 PM: If you mark them read/write, it should fix you right up. Just choose the main folder, and it should cascade down through all the sub-folders and files.

Went to the DA, setup all my stick mappings. Saved them, went into Blue and offline and they are gone!!!!! Still no skins. Or saved stick Mappings.

No way I have the time to setup a X45 w/pro rudders everytime I want to fly or change from DA to MA. Not to mention having to sign on to FSO 1 hour early so I can map everything.

BTW. WIN 7.

tried everything i could think of....pulled the joystick (cyborg 3d gold...yeah...oldschool) and it seem like all i had to do was remap controllers...

5 minutes later ....lost x, y, z, and slider again and locked me back on radio1....

pizzzzzzzzzzzd. So any suggestions?

Post by: Tigger29 on April 25, 2011, 09:21:50 PM: Just for the record, I had none of these problems with 7 - 64bit. Views, stick settings... and I also don't have to run as administrator.

I have UAC turned off, and I also have aces high installed into d:\Aces High.
I did the upgrade install, not the full install.

Just for S&G's I checked and read only is NOT enabled on that folder.

This might help you guys troubleshoot the issue. Good luck!

Post by: BoilerDown on April 26, 2011, 08:03:55 AM: I run XP and nothing but the default skins showed up in the MA last night, nothing else was there to be selected. I did not experience any of the other problems people are reporting though.

The disappearing stick mappings have to do with a device being plugged into the USB bus, which is not a stick/input device (example, a USB headset). This problem will be addressed in a patch, soon.

Are these available from the download page yet for manual D/L...or do we need to let the game update them?

I saved them to a file and placed that back in when updated but other than one sortie with my skin they all fell back to default with no other skins showing....not that it really matters I just liked the skin I used...made me fly a bit better hahaha

Post by: Skuzzy on April 27, 2011, 03:58:21 PM: You will only see the default skins until you have the current "skins.res" file installed, which will only happen when you are connected online long enough for it to get installed. That is the only way to get that file. Once it is installed, all your skins will be available again.
