Title: M4/76mm: New Reload Rate (M3's 75mm, too)
Post by: SmokinLoon on April 27, 2011, 08:06:37 PM
Has anyone else clocked it?  I'm guessing it is right at 5.5 seconds.  When I use a stop watch I get 5.6-5.7 seconds on a consistant basis (it used to be 3.6 seconds per shot just like the M4/75mm and LVT-4).

This will change things as well.  Now that the M4/76mm has a slower reload rate (another  :aok  to HTC!!!), this puts the Panzer IV back into play.  The reload rate of the Panzer IV is 4.3 seconds.  I have not been able to test how the damage mapping has effected the survivability of the Panzer IV yet, but I'm hoping it helps.  The M4/76mm still has the advantage in sight zoom with a 5x vs the 2.4x, but time will tell.

Again... a job very well done on the gv changes to HTC!   :)      :salute

EDIT:  I'm calling the reload rate of the M3's 75mm M1897A4 cannon very near the 4 second mark.  I thought it would have been a touch faster than that.  There are videos on YouTube show that cannon firing every 2-2.5 seconds.

I noticed the difference too.  HTC only mentioned the M4/76mm in the change log, I think there was an error in the programming somewhere.  I just made a post in the "bug" forum.

What difference? At least the Panzer IV, Tiger, Sherman VC and T-34/85 have the same reload times as they had in version 2.13

I posted the changes in the "bug fourm".  The Sherman 75mm and LVT-4 both have more than a 4 second reload now.  The Panzer IV used to have a 4.3 second reload.  T34/76 is at or slightly over 9 seconds.  Something changed and if there was meant to be a change then there were no notes in the change log.

I checked Panzer IV and T34/76 in 2.13 and 2.41. The reload times are identical. No change at all.

Interesting.  The Panzer IV has always had a 6 second reload??? Could have fooled me.  I have it listed as 4.3, and that came straight from the AH Trainers website.  That tells ya how much I use the Panzer IV.

Off to double check reload times.... again.    :headscratch:

EDIT: it helps to have the same control formula when testing reload times.  My bad.   :bhead

Why the big difference in reload times btwn the T34/76 and 85?
I thought the heavier shells took longer to reload, also that the loader in Russian tanks
had hardly any room to work, in both T34's.

T34/76 had less crew effectiveness due to having a two man turret only.
