Thought about flying today, called the AWOS, winds were 170 @8 (straight down the runway) looked at aviationweather.gov, and they gave a good forecast aswell. As soon as I got out the the airport, they were 230 @18 peak gusts 26, so I went inside the FBO to get a coke before I headed back home, and I heard a student (on his second lesson) ask what the FARs stood for. The CFI thought about for a second, and responded "The FARs are a publication that puts you to sleep while reading on the toilet!"
He then went on to explain that only a small part of the FARs pertain to private pilots.
I just thought I would share, and I know some of you will get a giggle out of this.

My CFI introduced FAR to me as a list of all the ways you can get yourself into trouble whilst flying, whilst AIM was all the ways to stay out of trouble :D

What can we say, it's hard to fly a slim plane with an ENY of 32.
